The neuroanatomical basis of the Gambler's fallacy: A univariate and multivariate morphometric study [PDF]

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, 2018
AbstractHuman decision‐making can be irrational, as in the case of the gambler's fallacy (GF). Converging evidence from behavioral and functional neuroimaging studies has suggested that a hyperactive cognitive system and a hypo‐active affective system contribute to the false world model that generates the GF.

A morphometric exploration of the taxonomic utility of scale osteoderms in southern African fossorial skinks (Acontinae, Acontias) [PDF]

open access: yesZoosystematics and Evolution
This study investigates the morphometric variation of osteoderms across species and populations within the genus Acontias, especially in the A. meleagris species complex.

Taxonomic relationships in Terebratulina (Brachiopoda) established by multivariate morphometrics.

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Palaeontology, 2022
Three morphologically-similar species of Terebratulina can be discriminated by means of a battery of multivariate statistical techniques applied to seven shell traits on 12 sample sets. T. retusa and T. unguicula are most alike morphometrically, whereas T. septentrionalis is equally distant from both of those species. In the light of existing molecular

Egg shape changes at the theropod–bird transition, and a morphometric study of amniote eggs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The eggs of amniotes exhibit a remarkable variety of shapes, from spherical to elongate and from symmetrical to asymmetrical. We examine eggshell geometry in a diverse sample of fossil and living amniotes using geometric morphometrics and linear ...

Quantitative morphometrics reveals glomerular changes in patients with infrequent segmentally sclerosed glomeruli

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Pathology, 2021
Aims Detection of one segmentally sclerosed glomerulus (SSG) identifies patients with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) but rare SSGs may be missed in kidney biopsies.
