Multivariate Analysis of Improvement and Outcome Following Stroke Rehabilitation

Archives of Neurology, 1987
This study documented the status of 432 patients and characteristics of functional improvements and outcomes achieved by 163 patients who participated in comprehensive stroke rehabilitation. Scores on the 100-point Activities of Daily Living Index improved from hospital admission to discharge and declined slightly at follow-up. An average Activities of

Multivariate assessment of therapy outcome research

Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry, 1978
Abstract The purpose of the present paper is to show how multivariate analysis of variance is appropriate for therapy research and to discuss and illustrate some differences among multiple comparisons procedures for multivariate experimental data.

A SAS macro for the analysis of multivariate longitudinal binary outcomes

Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, 2004
Multiple binary outcomes occur quite frequently in oral health research, as well as other areas of health care research. When there is interest in comparing whether covariates influence one outcome more than another, statistical methods that adjust for the correlation that may exist between outcomes are warranted.

A Study on Variances in Multivariate Analyses of Oral Implant Outcome

Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research, 2007
ABSTRACTBackground:  Elaborate studies have shown that interdependency exists between implants being placed in the same patient/jaw. Therefore, interdependency ought to be an important aspect to address, whenever performing statistical analyses of oral implant outcomes.

Prediction of the outcome of antenatally diagnosed hydronephrosis: A multivariable analysis

Journal of Pediatric Urology, 2012
The majority of cases of antenatal hydronephrosis (ANH) resolve postnatally. The purpose of this study was to determine independent predictors for resolution of ANH using a multivariable analysis model.A retrospective study was performed on 100 children (80 males and 20 females, 118 renal units) referred to a single pediatric urology clinic with the ...

Outcome variables in multivariable analysis

2006
How does the nature of the outcome variable influence the choice of which type of multivariable analysis to do? The choice of multivariable analysis depends primarily on the type of outcome variable that you have (Table 3.1). Therefore, I have organized this chapter by outcome variable: interval (Section 3.2), dichotomous (Section 3.3), ordinal ...

Early Gastational Bleeding and Pregnancy Outcome: A Multivariable Analysis

International Journal of Epidemiology, 1983
The effect of early vaginal bleeding on pregnancy outcome was assessed for 16 305 singleton stillborn and liveborn deliveries at three obstetric units in Jerusalem, Israel during 1975-1976. A total of 2385 women (14.6%) reported gestational bleeding before the seventh month of pregnancy.

Hierarchical Linear Models for Multivariate Outcomes

Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics, 1997
In this article, we develop a class of two-stage models to accommodate three common characteristics of behavioral data. First, behavior is invariably multivariate in its conceptualization and communication. Separate univariate analyses of related outcome variables are fraught with potential interpretive blind spots for the researcher.

An empirical comparison of univariate and multivariate meta‐analyses for categorical outcomes

Statistics in Medicine, 2013
AbstractTreatment effects for multiple outcomes can be meta‐analyzed separately or jointly, but no systematic empirical comparison of the two approaches exists. From the Cochrane Library of Systematic Reviews, we identified 45 reviews, including 1473 trials and 258,675 patients, that contained two or three univariate meta‐analyses of categorical ...

Exploiting Multivariate Outcomes in Bayesian Inference for Causal Effects with Noncompliance

2013
A Bayesian approach to causal inference in the presence of noncompliance to assigned randomized treatment is considered. It exploits multivariate outcomes for improving estimation of weakly identified models, when the usually invoked exclusion restriction assumptions are relaxed.
