MEMS reagent and sample handling procedure: Feasibility of viral antibody detection by passive immune agglutination [PDF]

open access: yes
An attempt was made to develop a test requiring no preadsorption steps for the assessment of antibodies to rubella and mumps viruses using the passive immune agglutination (PIA) method. Both rubella and mumps antigens and antibodies were prepared. Direct

Intracellular Nucleocapsid RNA of Mumps Virus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1982
Intracellular nucleocapsids, virtually free of host proteins and nucleic acids, were purified from cells acutely infected with several strains of mumps virus. VIral RNA obtained from the nucleocapsids was predominantly a single 50S species, with 28S RNA occurring as a secondary peak in the RNA profile. Nucleocapsids yielded approx. 9 micrograms 50S RNA

Assessment of the ferret as an in vivo model for mumps virus infection.

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2013
Humans are the sole reservoir for mumps virus (MuV), the causative agent of mumps. No animal model currently exists; therefore, in vivo knowledge of the virus is limited.
