Residual nutrients from Murashige and Skoog medium were analyzed following a 5-wk multifactor experiment. Plant density, sugar concentration, and plant growth regulators (benzyladenine and ancymidol) were examined using four genotypes of daylily (Hemerocallis) to determine which factors most influenced nutrient use.

Plant Cell, Tissue and Organ Culture, 2004
Nickel has been identified as an essential element for plant growth. The lack of nickel and the inclusion of cobalt leads to absence of urease activity in plants grown on MS medium in tissue culture. To avoid leaf damage and metabolic stress, nickel should be included in tissue culture growth media.

An improved micropropagation protocol has been developed for halophytic grasswort Salicornia brachiata by using double concentration of Murashige and Skoog (Physiol Plant 15:473–497, 1962) medium (DMS) supplemented with plant growth regulators. Best shoot bud induction (90 %) from nodal explants was observed on DMS supplemented with 3.0 mg L−1 6-benzyl

A Revised Tissue Culture Medium for Shoot Multiplication of Rhododendron
Journal of the American Society for Horticultural Science, 1984Revision of the Murashige-Skoog (MS) 1962 inorganic formula was necessary for the successful culture of rhododendron cultivars. A bioassay system was developed to assess the effects of modifying the MS formula.
