Suppression of House Flies (Diptera: Muscidae) on New York and Maryland Dairies Using Releases of Muscidifurax raptor (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) in an Integrated Management Program

Environmental Entomology, 1992
Releases of Muscidifurax raptor (Girault & Sanders) were integrated with weekly removal of calf bedding and infrequent use of pyrethrin space sprays for management of house flies, Musca domestica L., on seven dairy farms in New Yorkand Maryland; six other farms were used as controls.

Effects of an azadirachtin-based formulation on the non-target muscoid fly parasitoid Muscidifurax raptor (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae)

Biological Control, 2008
Abstract Extracts from the Indian neem tree, Azadirachta indica (Meliaceae), have demonstrated high potential for the control of numerous insect pests. Azadirachtin [AZ], a tetranortriterpenoid compound, is considered the most important active principle contained in neem seed kernels.

Susceptibility of the house fly pupal parasitoid Muscidifurax raptor (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) to the entomopathogenic bacteria Bacillus thuringiensis and Brevibacillus laterosporus

Biological Control, 2007
Abstract Muscidifurax raptor , an ectophagous pteromalid parasitoid of various muscid flies such as Musca domestica , can be mass-reared and released in poultry and livestock farms for house fly control. Entomopathogenic bacteria, such as Bacillus thuringiensis , are commercialized for the biological control of different insect pests, but they may

Description of a New Species of Microsporidia from Muscidifurax raptor (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae), a Pupal Parasitoid of Muscoid Flies

Journal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, 1994
ABSTRACT. A microsporidian parasite, Nosema muscidifuracis n. sp., has been found in Muscidifurax raptor, a parasitoid of muscoid flies. Stages of the parasite developed in direct contact with the host cell cytoplasm and were detected in midgut epithelium, Malpighian tubules, ovaries (including oocytes) and fat body of larvae and adults.

Multiparasitism of House Fly, Musca domestica L., Pupae by Spalangia endius Walker and Muscidifurax raptor Girault and Sanders (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae)

Environmental Entomology, 1983
Spalangia endius and Muscidifurax raptor multiparasitized house fly pupae. However, S. endius tended to avoid ovipositing in pupae parasitized by M. raptor , whereas M. raptor did not avoid pupae parasitized by S. endius . Behavioral observations indicated that both species could, in some cases, discriminate and subsequently refrain from ovipositing on

Analysis of solitariness in a parasite—host system ( Muscidifurax raptor , Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae— Ceratitis capitata , Diptera: Tephritidae)*

Ecological Entomology, 1977
Abstract. 1. The behaviour of the parasite Muscidifurax raptor Girault and Sanders was studied when searching for hosts, puparia of the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann).

Search Efficiency of Spalangia cameroni and Muscidifurax raptor on Musca domestica Pupae in Dairy Cattle Farms in Denmark

Biocontrol, 2006
Indoor releases of Spalangia cameroni Perkins and Muscidifurax raptor Girauelt & Sanders (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) were conducted in five organic dairy cattle farms to evaluate the overall effect on parasitism and efficiency at different pupal depths of Musca domestica L. (Diptera: Muscidae). Overall, parasitism increased significantly from 5.3 to 28.
