Deltoid contracture: a case with multiple muscle contractures
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery, 2007Deltoid contracture is relatively uncommon. The literature consists primarily of case reports and few articles on large case series. The pathogenesis has been well studied. Muscle contractures can occur in the deltoid, biceps, triceps, gluteus and quadriceps muscles; however, cases of multiple muscle contractures are rare.

Deltoid Muscle Abduction Contracture
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1977A child with an abduction contracture of the left shoulder secondary to diffuse fibrosis of the deltoid muscle was successfully treated by recession of the inserting muscle fibers proximally. Previously reported cases of deltoid muscle contracture were secondary to fibrous cords or nodules within the muscle. This patient's contracture may be related to

Contractures and muscle disease
Practical Neurology, 2016Contractures are one of a handful of signs in muscle disease, besides weakness and its distribution, whose presence can help guide us diagnostically, a welcome star on the horizon. Contractures are associated with several myopathies, some with important cardiac manifestations, and consequently are important to recognise; their presence may also provide

Muscle cramps and contractures
Practical Neurology, 2023Muscle cramps are painful, sudden, involuntary muscle contractions that are generally self-limiting. They are often part of the spectrum of normal human physiology and can be associated with a wide range of acquired and inherited causes. Cramps are only infrequently due to progressive systemic or neuromuscular diseases.

Muscle contracture emulation system
IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2003, 2004In the paper a muscle contracture emulation system for the purposes of studying impact of muscle contractures on human gait is presented. The muscle contracture emulation system was designed to imitate gait of a patient with locomotion disorder originating primarily from muscle contractures in a neurologically and orthopaedically intact person.

Contractures, continuous muscle discharges, and titubation
Annals of Neurology, 1977AbstractA mother and 2 children had abnormally fixed postures of the hands and feet at birth. At adolescence, intermittent attacks of shaking and titubation with dysarthria and, rarely, abnormal hand posturing developed in all 3. Electromyographically, there were continuous muscle discharges inhibited only by curare.

Caffeine contractures in denervated frog muscle
Pflgers Archiv European Journal of Physiology, 1984Caffeine contracture tension, effect of caffeine on the resting membrane potential, and caffeine influx in normal and denervated frog sartorius muscle have been investigated. Peak caffeine contracture tension is increased after denervation at all caffeine concentrations. The percentage increases in tension are highest for lower caffeine concentrations.
