Effects of static exercises on hip muscle fatigue and knee wobble assessed by surface electromyography and inertial measurement unit data

open access: yesScientific Reports
Hip muscle weakness can be a precursor to or a result of lower limb injuries. Assessment of hip muscle strength and muscle motor fatigue in the clinic is important for diagnosing and treating hip-related impairments.

Stimulation-Induced Muscle Deformation Measured With A-Mode Ultrasound Correlates With Muscle Fatigue

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering
Muscle fatigue is a common physiological phenomenon whose onset can impair physical performance and increase the risk of injury. Traditional assessments of muscle fatigue are primarily constrained by their dependence on maximum voluntary contractions ...

Effect of mental fatigue on induced tremor in human knee extensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this study, the effects of mental fatigue on mechanically induced tremor at both a low (3-6Hz) and high (8-12Hz) frequency were investigated. The two distinct tremor frequencies were evoked using two springs of different stiffness, during 20s ...

Dysregulation of metabolic‐associated pathways in muscle of breast cancer patients: preclinical evaluation of interleukin‐15 targeting fatigue

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, 2018
Background Breast cancer patients report a perception of increased muscle fatigue, which can persist following surgery and standardized therapies. In a clinical experiment, we tested the hypothesis that pathways regulating skeletal muscle fatigue are ...

Sustained Isometric Wrist Flexion and Extension Maximal Voluntary Contractions on Corticospinal Excitability to Forearm Muscles during Low-Intensity Hand-Gripping

open access: yesBrain Sciences, 2020
The wrist extensors demonstrate an earlier fatigue onset than the wrist flexors. However, it is currently unclear whether fatigue induces unique changes in muscle activity or corticospinal excitability between these muscle groups.

2D Skeletal Muscle Thin Film Actuators Enhance Efficiency of Biohybrid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D skeletal muscle thin film actuators generate millinewton‐scale forces and millimeter‐scale strokes while remaining functional for over 30 days. Their force density is 20‐fold higher than 3D skeletal muscle actuators, enabling multi‐fin robots with tunable speed and multidirectional steering.
