Muscle hypertrophy with neuropathy
Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 1978A patient with insidious onset of weakness, muscle atrophy and true hypertrophy, and sustained spasms is described. The spasms, initially mistaken to be myotonic, were shown electromyographically to result from sustained activity of the muscle fibres. An additional clinical manifestation verified myographically, was impaired reciprocal inhibition. Also,

Does stretch training induce muscle hypertrophy in humans? A review of the literature
Clinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, 2020Stretch training is widely used in a variety of fitnessārelated capacities such as increasing joint range of motion, preventing contractures and alleviating injuries. Moreover, some researches indicate that stretch training may induce muscle hypertrophy;

Muscle hypertrophy in bodybuilders
European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology, 1982Muscle biopsy samples were obtained from m. vastus lateralis and m. deltoideus of three high caliber bodybuilders. Tissue specimens were analysed with respect to relative distribution of fast twitch (FT) and slow twitch (ST) fiber types and different indices of fiber area.

THERE recently came to our attention a patient with facial asymmetry due to hypertrophy of the masseter muscles. This disorder has been described in the otolaryngological and surgical literature. However, a thorough search failed to disclose any reports concerning this disease entity in dermatologic texts or journals.

Unilateral temporalis muscle hypertrophy with contralateral masseteric hypertrophy
Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, 2007We report the MRI findings of a 22-year-old woman who complained of localized swelling in the left temporal region and right side of the face. MRI revealed left temporal and right masseter muscle hypertrophy, which to our knowledge has not been reported previously. The diagnosis of benign masticatory muscle hypertrophy was confirmed by biopsy.

Benign Hypertrophy of Masseter Muscle
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1959Since Legg,13in 1880, reported a "tumor of ill defined outline" involving the masseter and temporalis muscles in a 10-year-old girl, less than 40 cases of benign masseter hypertrophy have been described in the literature. However, the fact that the 3 cases discussed here came under our observation during a period of less than 7 months, together with ...

Familial hypertrophy of masticatory muscles
Journal of Neurology, 1987Three familial cases of idiopathic hypertrophy of the masticatory muscles are reported. The muscular enlargement was noted in late childhood or early adult life, was bilateral, insidious, painless and non-progressive. Electrophysiological and laboratory findings were normal in one case.

Unilateral hypertrophy of masseter muscle
The American Journal of Surgery, 1954Abstract These cases are reported to swell the scanty volume of literature on the subject of simple masseter hypertrophy, and to bring to our minds one of the rarer causes of unilateral and bilateral swelling in the side of the face in young men and women.
