Relationships among hamstring muscle optimal length and hamstring flexibility and strength

open access: yesJournal of Sport and Health Science, 2017
Background: Hamstring muscle strain injury (hamstring injury) due to excessive muscle strain is one of the most common injuries in sports. The relationships among hamstring muscle optimal lengths and hamstring flexibility and strength were unknown, which

Possible factors related to increased strain of the iliotibial band in recreational female runners

open access: yesJournal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine, 2020
Increased strain of the iliotibial band (ITB) is a key factor of ITBS aggravation. There are several internal risk factors contributing to increased ITB strain; gender (female), knee malalignment (genu varum > genu valgus), deteriorated muscle ...

Effects of an acute bout of dynamic stretching on biomechanical properties of the gastrocnemius muscle determined by shear wave elastography. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
The aim of this study was to examine the acute effects of dynamic stretching (DS) exercise on passive ankle range of motion (RoM), resting localized muscle stiffness, as measured by shear wave speed (SWS) of medial gastrocnemius muscle, fascicle strain ...

Does papillary muscle free strain has predictive value in risk stratification of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy?

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
BackgroundPapillary muscle free strain has not been evaluated previously in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCMP) patients. Our aim was to evaluate free papillary muscle free strain in HCMP patients and to find whether it has a value for prediction of ...

Post-training urinary titin fragment concentration increases in athletes with previous muscle strain injury: a pilot study in soccer players

open access: yesJournal of Physical Fitness and Sports Medicine, 2021
Urinary titin fragment concentration has been established as a noninvasive biomarker of muscle protein degradation and muscle damage after exercise. We hypothesized that concerning the microdamage in the chronic phase of muscle strain injury, muscle ...

Quantitative Ultrasound to Assess Skeletal Muscles in Post Stroke Spasticity

open access: yesJournal of Central Nervous System Disease, 2021
Quantitative ultrasound (QUS) techniques such as pixel intensity, ultrasound strain, and shear wave elastography have made it possible to identify the echogenicity (brightness) and mechanical properties (stiffness) of normal and pathological tissues ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.
