The Effect of Smoking on Muscle Transposition
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1994Smoking has been shown to be a complicating factor in normal wound healing. Both nicotine and carbon monoxide adversely affect multiple stages of the healing process. From 1976 to 1990, 1034 muscle flap procedures were performed on 722 patients on a single surgical service.

Muscle Transposition in Deep Localized Burns
Archives of Surgery, 1972Defects from burns of the lower extremity involving bone were closed by transposing nearby muscle and covering by split-thickness skin grafts in three patients. The outcome was successful and the rehabilitation period was considerably shortened. The method is recommended as a relatively simple way of managing a difficult problem.

Muscle Transposition in the Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed Larynx
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1983Muscle transposition of the innervated omohyoid muscle into the tendon of the paralyzed posterior cricoarytenoid muscle was studied in a small series of subhuman primates. A similar procedure was described previously by King for treatment of bilateral recurrent nerve injuries.

Muscle Transposition for Treatment of Osteomyelitis of the Tibia
Scandinavian Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 1985A series of 24 consecutive patients with osteomyelitis of the tibia and soft tissue defects were treated according to the principle of radical excision of the infected bone together with transposition of muscle flaps and primary skin cover as a one-stage procedure. External fixation was used for stabilization of bone. The mean duration of osteomyelitis
