CT-based volumetric assessment of rotator cuff muscle in shoulder arthroplasty preoperative planning

open access: yesBone & Joint Open, 2021
Aims: The aim of this study was to describe a quantitative 3D CT method to measure rotator cuff muscle volume, atrophy, and balance in healthy controls and in three pathological shoulder cohorts.

Effects of Lengthening Velocity During Eccentric Training on Vastus Lateralis Muscle Hypertrophy

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2019
Eccentric loading is an effective stimulus for muscle hypertrophy and strength gains, however, the effect of lengthening velocity is under debate. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the influence of muscle lengthening velocity during ...

Abnormal Paravertebral Muscle Activity and Cervical Extensor Muscle Condition Affect Dynamic Spinal Balance during Gait in Dropped Head Syndrome

open access: yesSpine Surgery and Related Research
Introduction: The pathogenesis of dropped head syndrome (DHS) involves factors like fat infiltration of the cervical extensor muscle, cervical degeneration, and sarcopenia, which are typically assessed using conventional imaging.

Volume Change of Muscle and Fat Portions of Latissimus Dorsi Myocutaneous Flap after Breast Reconstruction

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Global Open, 2021
Background:. Myocutaneous flaps are composed of muscle and fat portions, and exhibit volume changes with time. However, no consideration is generally given to volume changes of muscle and fat portions occurring in the flap.

Weekly Time Course of Neuro-Muscular Adaptation to Intensive Strength Training

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2017
Detailed description of the time course of muscular adaptation is rarely found in literature. Thus, models of muscular adaptation are difficult to validate since no detailed data of adaptation are available.

Comparative Evaluation of Hemodiafiltration, Hemoperfusion, and Standard Hemodialysis on Efficacy, Inflammatory Control, Dialysis Adequacy, and Safety in End‐Stage Renal Disease: A Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
