Crystal structures of mutant ribosomal proteins L1
Molecular Biology, 2007Nine mutant forms of ribosomal proteins L1 from the bacterium Thermus thermophilus and the archaeon Methanococcus jannaschii were obtained. Their crystal structures were determined and analyzed. Earlier determined structure of S179C TthL1 was also thoroughly analyzed. Five from ten mutant proteins reveal essential changes of spatial structure caused by

Competence proteins in Bacillus subtilis com mutants
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1985The synthesis of nucleases and proteins specific for competence development have been studied in four different Bacillus subtilis competence-deficient mutants. The nuclease analysis showed that two DNA-binding-deficient mutants were impaired in three nuclease activities involved in binding and entry of donor DNA.

Studies on protein characteristics in rice mutants
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1982Twenty mutants isolated from "Latisail", "Jhingasail" and "Pankaj" varieties of rice (Oryza sativa L.) were screened for two aspects of nutritive quality, namely crude protein content and distribution pattern of protein in the endosperm. Observations revealed a wide variation for both characters, and while there was no consistent association between ...

Electrophoresis of mutant proteins in inherited diseases
Journal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 1991The electrophoretic approaches for detection of mutant proteins in inherited diseases are briefly reviewed and discussed. Mutation of a protein, known to be associated with a specific inherited disease, is detected by immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation or enzyme staining, combined with various electrophoretic techniques.

Protein Electroporation into Chlamydomonas for Mutant Rescue
2009Electroporation can be used to deliver proteins into Chlamydomonas cells. This technique is particularly useful to demonstrate rescue of paralyzed-flagella mutants with recombinant proteins that complement the mutations. The appearance of motile cells immediately provides assurance that the recombinant proteins have their native structures and are ...
