A pan‐European citizen science study shows population size, climate and land use are related to biased morph ratios in the heterostylous plant Primula veris

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 1, January 2026.
A large‐scale citizen science study involving thousands of cowslip (Primula veris) observations from all over Europe revealed an unexpected prevalence of S‐morphs over L‐morphs, which was influenced by climatic as well as land use factors. Furthermore, general morph ratios were often unbalanced with the strongest shifts occurring in smaller populations.

Mode of Continental Thinning and Breakup Along the North Iberian‐Armorican Conjugate Margins in the Bay of Biscay

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Continental breakup involves multiple extension styles; each linked to unique structural and sedimentary processes. High‐angle, low‐angle, listric and antilistric normal faults develop at different stages and positions during rifting. The Bay of Biscay and its margins, a prototypical example of magma‐poor rifted margins during Jurassic ...

Biradical Initiation in Photoinitiated Copolymerization of Styrene and Maleic Anhydride

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, Volume 226, Issue 7, April 2025.
The contribution describes the photoinitiated copolymerization of styrene and maleic anhydride without the use of external radicals. It demonstrates that the polymerization is initiated by an excited state biradical formed from a photoexcited charge‐transfer complex between the monomers.
