CD20 and CD19 targeted vectors induce minimal activation of resting B lymphocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
B lymphocytes are an important cell population of the immune system. However, until recently it was not possible to transduce resting B lymphocytes with retro- or lentiviral vectors, making them unsusceptible for genetic manipulations by these vectors ...

Multiple Sclerosis Lesions Segmentation Using Attention-Based CNNs in FLAIR Images

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine, 2022
Objective: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune and demyelinating disease that leads to lesions in the central nervous system. This disease can be tracked and diagnosed using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

A Solid State Transformer model for power flow calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents the implementation of a Solid State Transformer (SST) model in OpenDSS. The goal is to develop a SST model that could be useful for assessing the impact that the replacement of the conventional iron-and-copper transformer with the SST

Semitopological BL-Algebras and MV -Algebras

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica, 2014
Abstract In this paper, by considering the notion of upsets, for any element x of a BL-algebra L, we construct a topology Tx on L and show that L-algebras with this topology formes a semitopological BL-algebras. Then we obtain some of the topological aspects of this structure such as connectivity and compactness. Moreover, we introduced

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

A matter of new life and cell death: programmed cell death in the mammalian ovary

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Science
Background The mammalian ovary is a unique organ that displays a distinctive feature of cyclic changes throughout the entire reproductive period. The estrous/menstrual cycles are associated with drastic functional and morphological rearrangements of ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Epidemiology and risk factors for phantom limb pain

open access: yesFrontiers in Pain Research
Approximately 356 million limb amputations are performed globally every year. In 2005, the prevalence of limb loss in the United States was 1.6 million people; and it is estimated to increase to 3.6 million by 2050.
