Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

RR Lyrae-based calibration of the Globular Cluster Luminosity Function

open access: yes, 2005
We test whether the peak absolute magnitude Mv(TO) of the Globular Cluster Luminosity Function (GCLF) can be used for reliable extragalactic distance determinations. Starting with the luminosity function of the Galactic Globular Clusters listed in Harris

From Crepes to Pancakes in the MV Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The McLerran-Venugopalan model provides a framework which allows one to compute the gluon distribution function of a very large nucleus from the equations of QCD, provided that the longitudinal momentum fraction, xF, is sufficiently small.

Lexicographic pseudo MV-algebras

open access: yesJournal of Applied Logic, 2015
A lexicographic pseudo MV-algebra is an algebra that is isomorphic to an interval in the lexicographic product of a linear unital group with an arbitrary $\ell$-group. We present conditions when a pseudo MV-algebra is lexicographic. We show that a key condition is the existence of a lexicographic ideal, or equivalently, a case when the algebra can be ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Mass and angular momentum for the Kerr black hole in TEGR and STEGR

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We study the energy–momentum characteristics of the rotating black hole–Kerr solution of general relativity in the teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (TEGR) and the symmetric teleparallel equivalent of general relativity (STEGR).

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
