Physical and Mechanical Properties of Mycelium-based Fiberboards

open access: yesBioResources
Mycelium-based fiberboards were evaluated as potential environmentally friendly substitutes for conventional wood-based composites. The goal of this study was to produce and test fiberboards out of yellow pine and poplar fiber mixtures without using any ...

Biological Resistance and Application Properties of Particleboards Containing Nano‐Zinc Oxide

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Special particleboards (PBs) proposed for kitchens, bathrooms, hospitals, and some other specific products for interiors should have a sufficient resistance against bacteria, molds, and decaying fungi. This work deals about effects of zinc oxide nanoparticles (nano‐ZnO) added into melamine‐urea‐formaldehyde (MUF) glue in the amounts of 0, 2, 6, 12, or ...

Enzymatic Treatment of Lignin in Alkaline Homogeneous Systems: A Review on Alkaliphilic Laccases

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 10, May 19, 2025.
This review summarizes the enzymatic treatment of lignin in alkaline homogeneous systems, with a focus on alkaliphilic laccases. Unlike native laccases that promote lignin polymerization under acidic conditions, these enzymes work in basic pH, where industrial lignins are soluble.
