Kutane Infektionen mit nicht‐tuberkulösen Mykobakterien: eine retrospektive Studie mit 94 Fällen aus Deutschland

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 608-618, May 2026.

Mycobacterium resembling Mycobacterium fortuitum that produces brown pigment [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1976
Two cultures of acid-fast bacilli with characteristics most closely resembling those of Mycobacterium fortuitum were recovered as casual isolates from sputa of a patient with an apparent brochogenic tumor. One of the cultures was consistenly cream colored to rosy buff.

Acidic pH Restricts Non‐Tuberculous Mycobacteria Replication

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, Volume 125, Issue 5, Page 375-388, May 2026.
Different nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) species display unique replication profiles in acidic pH in vitro which correlates to their replication within human macrophages. Inhibition of the acidic environments within the macrophage enhances bacterial viability emphasising the role of acidic pH during NTM infections.

Tuberculosis or Nontuberculosis? A Case of Mycobacterial Skin Infection

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mycobacteriology
Bacteria other than Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae are known as nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), and the frequency of clinically symptomatic forms is increasing day by day. Mycobacterium fortuitum, a rapidly reproducing NTM, causes

In vitro susceptibility of Mycobacterium fortuitum and Mycobacterium chelonei to cefmetazole [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1985
The in vitro susceptibility of Mycobacterium fortuitum and Mycobacterium chelonei to cefmetazole was studied by the agar dilution method. At a concentration of 16 micrograms/ml or lower, 44 isolates (96%) of M. fortuitum and 8 isolates (40%) of M. chelonei were inhibited.

Redefining Therapies for Drug‐Resistant Tuberculosis: Synergistic Effects of Antimicrobial Peptides, Nanotechnology, and Computational Design

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 14, 10 April 2026.
Antimicrobial peptide (AMP)‐loaded nanocarriers provide a multifunctional strategy to combat drug‐resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. By enhancing intracellular delivery, bypassing efflux pumps, and disrupting bacterial membranes, this platform restores phagolysosome fusion and macrophage function.

Alternative Approaches and Plant‐Based Remedies for Livestock Health Management Among the Batswana of Southern Africa: A Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Due to limited access to, and the high cost of conventional veterinary services, Batswana communities often rely on ethnoveterinary practices for livestock health management. This review provides an in‐depth analysis on the ethnoveterinary uses, biological properties and safety assessment of plants utilised in livestock husbandry. A systematic

gene as a new useful specific molecular target to quantify in environmental samples [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceBackgroundThe environment is the likely source of many pathogenic mycobacterial species but detection of mycobacteria by bacteriological tools is generally difficult and time-consuming.
