Birds, insects and air each host distinct fungal spore communities in a Japanese temperate forest; birds and insects act as selective vectors, while air provides maximal diversity. Our study highlights the importance of analysing multiple taxa to understand ecosystem‐level fungal spore dispersal and interactions.

A Meta-Analysis of the Human Gut Mycobiome Using Internal Transcribed Spacer Data
The intestinal mycobiome is closely related to human health. There have been several reports investigating the association between the gut fungi and disease, but there is still a lack of overall assessment of the human gut mycobiome. Here, we performed a

Fungal footprints in oral cancer: unveiling the oral mycobiome
Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common type of head and neck cancer, with a high mortality rate. There is growing evidence supporting a link between oral cancer and the microbiome. The microbiome can impact various aspects of cancer, such

The Gut Mycobiome for Precision Medicine
The human gastrointestinal tract harbors a vast array of microorganisms, which play essential roles in maintaining metabolic balance and immune function. While bacteria dominate the gut microbiome, fungi represent a much smaller, often overlooked fraction. Despite their relatively low abundance, fungi may significantly influence both health and disease.

IntroductionMicrobial colonization of the gut in early life is important for the development of metabolism, immunity, and the brain. Fungi and bacteria both colonize the human infant gut. The relatively smaller contribution of fungi to the gut microbiome,

Advances on the role of mycobiome in atopic dermatitis
Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a prevalent chronic skin disorder with a complex etiology involving genetic, environmental, and immunological factors. The skin mycobiome has been increasingly implicated in the pathophysiology of AD.

The Potential Role of Gut Mycobiome in Irritable Bowel Syndrome
The human gut is inhabited by diverse microorganisms that play crucial roles in health and disease. Gut microbiota dysbiosis is increasingly considered as a vital factor in the etiopathogenesis of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), which is a common ...
