Distribution of Mycoplasma haemofelis in blood and tissues following experimental infection.

open access: yesMicrob Pathog, 2009
The aim of the study was to describe blood and tissue copy number distribution during Mycoplasma haemofelis infection and determine if sequestration of organisms in body tissues could explain blood copy number cycling in infected cats.

Complete genome sequence of Mycoplasma haemofelis, a hemotropic mycoplasma. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Bacteriol, 2011
Here, we present the genome sequence of Mycoplasma haemofelis strain Langford 1, representing the first hemotropic mycoplasma (hemoplasma) species to be completely sequenced and annotated. Originally isolated from a cat with hemolytic anemia, this strain induces severe hemolytic anemia when inoculated into specific-pathogen-free-derived cats.

Mycoplasma haemofelis infection and imaging of mycoplasma haemofelis using scanning electron microscopy in a cat [PDF]

open access: yesKafkas Universitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Dergisi, 2015
In this case report was aimed to the evaluation of Mycoplasma haemofelis infection and electron microscopic imaging in a cat. The material of present case was included a cat, three years old, male, referred to a history of anorexia, lethargy and dehydration.

Amplification of Mycoplasma haemofelis DNA by a PCR for point-of-care use. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Vet Diagn Invest, 2018
We compared a qualitative in-clinic (IC)-PCR for the detection of Mycoplasma haemofelis DNA with the results of a commercial qualitative laboratory-based, conventional (c)PCR. In order to determine the specificity of both tests, Bartonella spp. samples were included.

Assessment of the ability of Aedes species mosquitoes to transmit feline Mycoplasma haemofelis and ' Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum'. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Feline Med Surg, 2017
Objectives The objective of this study was to evaluate wild-caught mosquitoes for evidence of hemotropic Mycoplasma species DNA and to determine whether the feline hemoplasmas, Mycoplasma haemofelis (Mhf) and ‘ Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum’ (Mhm), can be transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes in a laboratory setting. Methods Wild-caught mosquito

Complete genome sequences of two hemotropic mycoplasmas, Mycoplasma haemofelis strain Ohio2 and Mycoplasma suis Strain Illinois. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Bacteriol, 2011
We report the complete and fully assembled genomes of Mycoplasma haemofelis strain Ohio2 and Mycoplasma suis strain Illinois, which are the first available genomes of these uncultivatable hemoplasma species. The single circular chromosomes of 1,152,484 bp and 742,431 bp for M. haemofelis and M.

Diagnostic Accuracy of Blood Cytology and Conventional PCR Using Universal Primers for Detecting Haemoplasma Infection in Cats and Pigs of Thailand. [PDF]

open access: yesVet Med Sci
ABSTRACT Background Haemoplasma (haemotropic Mycoplasma sp.) is an aetiological agent of infectious anaemia in several mammals, including cats and pigs. Blood cytology lacks sensitivity for detecting this infection, and information regarding its accuracy in Thailand is lacking. Thus, PCR has emerged as the test of choice.

Retrospective prevalence and associated risk factors of Mycoplasma haemofelis infection in owned cats.

open access: yesTropical Biomedicine, 2022
Data on the prevalence and associated risk factors of naturally occurring haemoplasmosis in owned cats in Malaysia is limited. Being the most pathogenic of the three known feline haemoplasma species, Mycoplasma haemofelis (Mhf) infection was analysed ...

Use of Real-Time PCR To Detect and Quantify Mycoplasma haemofelis and “Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum” DNA [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2003
ABSTRACTA real-time PCR assay using Taqman probes was developed to detect and quantifyMycoplasma haemofelisand “CandidatusMycoplasma haemominutum” in feline blood samples. The assay was rapid and sensitive and was successfully used to monitor the in vivo kinetics of cats experimentally infected with each species.

Molecular investigation reveals three hemotropic mycoplasmas in cats and three tick species in China [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
To date, the primary hemoplasmas that infect cats include Mycoplasma haemofelis, ‘Candidatus Mycoplasma haemominutum’, and ‘Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis’. In addition, other hemoplasmas Mycoplasma species have also been identified in cats. In central
