Cytotoxicity of Mycoplasma mycoides Subspecies mycoides for Cultured Endothelial Cells
Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, 1989Toxic effect of 5 SC- and 4 LC-type strains of Mycoplasma mycoides subspecies mycoides has been demonstrated in cultured endothelial cells. The SC strains are agents of contagious bovine pleuropneumonia and presumably specific for cattle although occasionally isolated from goats.

Abstract Four strains of Mycoplasma isolated from contagious caprine pleuropneumonia in Turkey were biochemically and serologically similar and the 3 strains tested produced classical CCPP in experimental goats inoculated by the intratracheal route.

We reviewed the disease process in goats caused by Mycoplasma capricolum, M. mycoides subsp. mycoides, and M. putrefaciens and compared mycoplasma-infected goats (particularly young kids) for microanatomic changes. M. capricolum and M. mycoides subsp. mycoides cause a nearly identical disease: septicemia leading to pyrexia, high morbidity and mortality,

Mycoplasma mycoides var. mycoides: Immunity and mouse-protective antibody
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1971Abstract A passive mouse-protection test consisted of intraperitoneal challenge with Mycoplasma mycoides var. mycoides 2 to 4 hours after subcutaneous inoculation of 0·25 ml. undiluted or diluted serum, and results were assessed on the incidence and duration of bacteriaemia. Single doses of heat-killed M. mycoides var.

Abstract M. mycoides subsp. mycoides and M. mycoides subsp. capri were both shown to be pathogenic to goats experimentally infected by the endobronchial route. The infected animals were dull, unable to eat and had a high temperature. The mean mortality rate for all the infected animals was 74 per cent., the highest mortality being 100 per ...
