The Immunological Consequences of Clonal Hematopoiesis in Heart Failure

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 337, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Inflammation is increasingly recognized as a central driver of heart failure (HF), particularly in older adults, yet the underlying immune mechanisms remain diverse and incompletely understood. Clonal hematopoiesis (CH), defined by the expansion of somatically mutated hematopoietic clones, has emerged as a risk factor for the development of ...

Sex matters in CSU: Women face greater burden and poorer urticaria control, especially in midlife—CURE insights

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, Volume 40, Issue 1, Page 67-78, January 2026.
Chronic spontaneous urticaria affects more females than males, with predominance starting at age 31. New cases of δ‐aminolevulinic acid dehydratase deficiency: Functional insights into gene variants using an innovative mouse liver model

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, Volume 299, Issue 1, Page 126-142, January 2026.
Abstract Background Dysfunction of δ‐aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALAD), the second enzyme involved in heme biosynthesis, leads to two pathologies: genetic and acquired. The genetic form is an ultrarare, severe childhood‐onset disease inherited in an autosomal recessive manner, whereas the acquired form usually affects adults due to enzyme ...

Characterisation of Antifungal Prophylaxis and Therapy Among Inpatients With Haematological Malignancies in Non‐Research Clinical Setting: A Multicentre Italian Experience

open access: yesMycoses, Volume 69, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Invasive fungal infections (IFI) are a prominent cause of morbidity and mortality among patients with haematological malignancies (HMs). Diagnostic work‐up excluding IFI is mandatory in case of persistent fever while antifungal treatment (AFT) is started.

Heart rate changes in chronically red cell transfusion‐dependent patients—A dose‐dependent effect of red cell transfusion: A randomized cross‐over trial, interim analysis

open access: yesTransfusion, Volume 66, Issue 1, Page 102-113, January 2026.
Abstract Background Restrictive red blood cell transfusion strategies are widely recommended for acute anemia but may not adequately address the needs of chronically anemic patients with transfusion‐dependent myelodysplastic syndromes or myeloproliferative neoplasms.
