Frequency of Myocardial Dysfunction in Neonatal Sepsis: A Single Center Experience [PDF]
Background: Myocardial dysfunction is an association of neonatal sepsis that might occur without underlying cardiac structural defect (CSD). Aims of the work: To study frequency of myocardial dysfunction (MD) in sepsis in full term neonates without CSD.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Long‐term prognostic value of an index of myocardial performance in patients with myocardial infarction [PDF]
AbstractBackground: The Tei index of myocardial performance (IMP), which combines parameters of both systolic and diastolic ventricular function, is a useful prognostic factor in many clinical settings.Hypothesis: This study assessed the long‐term prognostic value of IMP in patients discharged from hospital after acute myocardial infarction (AMI ...

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Introduction: Nasal septum deviation is the leading cause of upper airway obstruction. Chronic upper airway obstruction may cause myocardial injury due to chronic hypoxia. Effects of septoplasty on left venticular diastolic and sistolic functions are not

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Myocardial Performance Index in Nephrotic Syndrome
Background: Primary or idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (PNS) is the most frequent form of Nephrotic Syndrome in children. There is an increased incidence of heart disease in patients with (PNS). Protein wasting and systemic inflammatory activation during PNS may contribute to cardiac remodeling and dysfunction.

Tissue Doppler Echocardiography and Myocardial Performance Index in Patients with Scleroderma [PDF]
In this study, left and right ventricular functions were examined echocardiographically in 22 patients with scleroderma and 22 healthy volunteers. Conventional and tissue Doppler echocardiography and myocardial performance indexes were used as measures of right and left ventricular global functions.
