Upper Limb Myoelectric Prostheses: User and Therapist Perspectives on Quantifying Benefits of Pattern Recognition Control

open access: yes, 2018
of Oral Presentation In this presentation results were shown of a qualitative interview study. We investigated user and therapist perceptions of state-of-the-art multi-function myoelectric upper limb prostheses and pattern recognition control ...

Rapid face recognition using hashing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We propose a face recognition approach based on hashing. The approach yields comparable recognition rates with the random ℓ1 approach, which is considered the state-of-the-art. But our method is much faster: it is up to 150 times faster than on the YaleB

Surface EMG Statistical and Performance Analysis of Targeted-Muscle-Reinnervated (TMR) Transhumeral Prosthesis Users in Home and Laboratory Settings

open access: yesSensors, 2022
A pattern-recognition (PR)-based myoelectric control system is the trend of future prostheses development. Compared with conventional prosthetic control systems, PR-based control systems provide high dexterity, with many studies achieving >95% accuracy ...

Infra‐slow brain–heart–gut electrophysiological interactions reveal a co‐ordinated multisystem physiological network in humans

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Simultaneous resting‐state electroencephalographic (EEG), electrocardiographic (ECG) and electrogastrographic (EGG) recordings were processed to extract time‐resolved physiological markers for each organ: EEG alpha‐band power for the brain, cardiac sympathetic and parasympathetic indices (CSI, CPI) for the heart and EGG power for

A VIRTUAL ENVIRONMENT ASSESSMENT OF A NOVEL PATTERN RECOGNITION BASED MYOELECTRIC CONTROL SCHEME

open access: yes, 2008
This work compared a novel pattern recognition based myoelectric control system to a system based on conventional control and another state of the art pattern recognition system. The results showed that the proposed system provides a more usable system

Bioengineered Interfaces for Peripheral Nerve Sensory Restoration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 60, 27 October 2026.
Half of amputees abandon their prosthetics for lack of feeling. This review charts the full path from peripheral nerve injury to restored sensation, through surgical, regenerative, noninvasive, and implanted approaches, and shows how injury type and interface material properties determine which strategy can deliver naturalistic feedback, and why ...

Toward Complex In‐Car Environment Human–Vehicle Interactions Through Smart Glasses and sEMG‐Based Gesture Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2026.
This study proposes a novel weighted random forest multimodal fusion method that combines smart glasses and sEMG data for in‐vehicle gesture interaction. It realizes stable performance in dim, occluded, and other constrained scenarios, providing feasible solutions and laying a foundation for universal human–machine interaction.

CLINICALLY PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF PATTERN RECOGNITION FOR MYOELECTRIC PROSTHESES

open access: yes, 2008
The promise of pattern recognition for improved control of upper-extremity powered prostheses has existed for a long time. During the years of offline research and algorithm development, very little experience has been gained with real-time use in ...

Virtual Control of Prosthetic Hand Based on Grasping Patterns and Estimated Force from Semg

open access: yesITM Web of Conferences, 2016
Myoelectric prosthetic hands aim to serve upper limb amputees. The myoelectric control of the hand grasp action is a kind of real-time or online method. Thus it is of great necessity to carry on a study of online prosthetic hand electrical control.

Gastric Emptying in Obesity and Weight‐Loss Interventions: Physiology, Assessment, and Clinical Implications

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 5, October 2026.
Obesity is associated with accelerated gastric emptying. Weight‐loss interventions each impose a distinct emptying signature: acceleration after sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass, delay after endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty, intragastric balloon, and GLP‐1 receptor agonists.
