Investigating the role of CFTR in human and mouse myometrium

open access: yesCurrent Research in Physiology
Background: Abnormal cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) function in cystic fibrosis (CF) has been linked to airway smooth muscle abnormalities including bronchial hyperresponsiveness.

Galactosaminoglycans from normal myometrium and leiomyoma

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 2001
In many tumors, the amount of chondroitin sulfate in the extracellular matrix has been shown to be elevated when compared to the corresponding normal tissue. Nevertheless, the degree of chondroitin sulfate increase varies widely.

A Combination of Two Human Monoclonal Antibodies Limits Fetal Damage by Zika Virus in Macaques [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Human infection by Zika virus (ZIKV) during pregnancy can lead to vertical transmission and fetal aberrations, including microcephaly. Prophylactic administration of antibodies can diminish or prevent ZIKV infection in animal models, but whether passive ...

Metroplasty before IVF in women with a T‐shaped uterus: A clinical challenge

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract A T‐shaped uterus is a uterine malformation, which can be either congenital or acquired, potentially impairing fertility and increasing the risk of miscarriage. Diagnosis primarily relies on three‐dimensional ultrasound and hysteroscopy. Hysteroscopic metroplasty is the standard surgical intervention aimed at restoring normal uterine anatomy ...

SELECTIVE SODIUM PUMP INHIBITOR CALIX[4]ARENE C-1130 INCREASES CONCENTRATION OF Ca IONS IN SMOOTH MUSCLE CELLS [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologia Acta
Aim. This work aimed to determine the biochemical regularities of calix[4]arene C-1130 effect on the activity of Nа+,К+-АТРase and Са2+ level in PM of smooth muscle cells (SMCs). Methods.

A Broad-Spectrum Chemokine Inhibitor Blocks Inflammation-Induced Myometrial Myocyte–Macrophage Crosstalk and Myometrial Contraction

open access: yesCells, 2021
Prophylactic administration of the broad-spectrum chemokine inhibitor (BSCI) FX125L has been shown to suppress uterine contraction, prevent preterm birth (PTB) induced by Group B Streptococcus in nonhuman primates, and inhibit uterine cytokine/chemokine ...

A subset of co-expressed genes in Slug-based cancer mesenchymal transition signature remains coexpressed in normal samples in a tissue-specific manner [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A recently identified gene expression signature of EMT markers containing the transcription factor Slug was found present in samples from many publicly available cancer gene expression datasets of multiple cancer types except leukemia. We also found many

STIM and Orai isoform expression in pregnant human myometrium: a potential role in calcium signaling during pregnancy

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology, 2014
Store-operated calcium (Ca2+) entry (SOCE) can be mediated by two novel proteins, STIM/Orai. We have previously demonstrated that members of the TRPC family, putative basal and store operated calcium entry channels, are present in human myometrium and ...

The Application Value of Transvaginal Three‐Dimensional Ultrasonography in the Diagnosis of Adenomyosis of the Uterus

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
In this study, 3D‐TVS measurements of the uterine junction zone (JZ) in 120 patients showed that a JZmax threshold of ≥ 0.45 cm yielded 77% sensitivity and 89% specificity for adenomyosis diagnosis. Notably, JZ thickness varies minimally with age, demonstrating its stability and excellent diagnostic performance.
