Astigmatic Keratotomy Combined With Myopic Keratomileusis In Situ for Compound Myopic Astigmatism

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1996
Myopic keratomileusis in situ by an automated microkeratome corrects myopia but not astigmatism, which is traditionally corrected by astigmatic keratotomy months after keratomileusis. We developed a technique for simultaneously correcting astigmatism and severe myopia, and examined its effectiveness in a retrospective case-control study.Thirty-four ...

Excimer laser correction of myopic astigmatism

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1994
The excimer laser allows the controlled ablation of corneal tissue to correct refractive error. By using a combination of spherical and slit apertures, it is possible to correct both myopia and astigmatism. We report the results of 139 consecutive eyes that had photoastigmatic refractive keratectomy (PARK) for myopic astigmatism (myopia < or = -15.00 ...

Influence of Internal Optical Astigmatism on the Correction of Myopic Astigmatism by LASIK

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2011
PURPOSE: To investigate the influence of the origin of astigmatism on the correction of myopic astigmatism by LASIK. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted of the records of 192 patients (192 eyes) undergoing LASIK for correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism from January ...

Myopic Astigmatism as a Substitute for Accommodation in Pseudophakia

Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1981
Pseudophacic eyes can be made nearly spectacle-independent by increasing the depth of focus of the uncorrected implanted eye. When the postoperative ametropia is a simple myopic astigmatism the uncorrected visual acuity can be above 0.4 from far to near.

Epi-LASEK for the correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2002
To analyze patient results after laser-assisted subepithelial keratectomy (epi-LASEK) for myopia and myopic astigmatism.Private practice setting, Columbus, Ohio, USA.Three hundred forty-three eyes of 188 patients with myopia or myopic astigmatism were prospectively evaluated after having epi-LASEK by a single surgeon using the VISX Star S2 excimer ...

Astigmatic Keratotomy Followed by Photorefractive Keratectomy in the Treatment of Compound Myopic Astigmatism

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1994
ABSTRACT Eleven eyes of 9 patients that had compound myopic astigmatism were treated by astigmatic keratotmy followed 1 month later by photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). In 9 eyes arcuate incisions were performed, in 1 eye a modified Ruiz procedure was performed, and in 1 eye radial T cuts were done. The mean spherical equivalent was -8.26 +/-

Effect of Refractive and Topographic Astigmatic Axis on LASIK Correction of Myopic Astigmatism

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2005
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: To evaluate whether agreement or disagreement between the axis of astigmatism as determined by refraction and corneal topography has any influence on the outcome of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) correction of astigmatism.

Correcting simple myopic astigmatism with the excimer laser

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1995
For one year we followed 46 eyes that had photoastigmatic refractive keratectomy with an excimer laser to correct simple myopic astigmatism. Mean preoperative cylinder was -2.50 +/- 0.70 diopters (D); mean preoperative best corrected visual acuity was 20/25 +/- 1 Snellen line.

The Effect of Spherical Photorefractive Keratectomy On Myopic Astigmatism

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1995
ABSTRACT The aim of this report is to present the effects of spherical photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) by excimer laser on myopic astigmatism. Spherical PRK was performed in 96 eyes with myopia associated with astigmatism of between 0.75 and 2.00 diopters (D) using the Summit excimer laser.

Laser in situ keratomileusis for myopia and myopic astigmatism

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1998
To evaluate the precision and safety of myopia and astigmatism correction using laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).Augenchirurgie und Laserzentrum Hoch-Rum (Sanatorium der Kreuzsch-western), Innsbruck, Austria. In this prospective study, LASIK was performed on 66 eyes of 39 patients with myopia ranging from 1.50 to 16.00 diopters (D).
