Early Results of Photorefractive Keratectomy for Myopic Astigmatism

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1996
ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: The Technolas Keracor 116 excimer laser has been used to correct myopic astigmatism. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the early results in our patients. METHODS: The Technolas Keracor 116 excimer utilizes a scanning beam to correct myopic astigmatism.

Excimer Laser Photorefractive Keratectomy (Prk) in Myopic Astigmatism

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 1996
To assess the visual and refractive results of excimer laser photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) in myopic astigmatism. Methods Excimer laser PRK was performed using an Aesculap Meditec MEL 60 laser in 46 myopic astigmatic eyes. Preoperative corneal astigmatism was –1.50 D. (±0.50) in 7 eyes (15.2%); –2.50 D. (±0.50) in 14 eyes (30.5%); –3.50 D. (±0.50)

Myopic Astigmatism as a Substitute for Accommodation in Pseudophakia

Documenta Ophthalmologica, 1981
Pseudophacic eyes can be made nearly spectacle-independent by increasing the depth of focus of the uncorrected implanted eye. When the postoperative ametropia is a simple myopic astigmatism the uncorrected visual acuity can be above 0.4 from far to near.

Correction of Myopic Astigmatism With Small Incision Lenticule Extraction

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2014
PURPOSE: To evaluate the outcome after small incision refractive lenticule extraction (SMILE) in patients with myopic astigmatism. METHODS: Seven hundred seventy-five eyes from 403 patients with myopia treated with SMILE for a cylinder of 0.75 diopters (D) or more were identified ...

Effect of Refractive and Topographic Astigmatic Axis on LASIK Correction of Myopic Astigmatism

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2005
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: To evaluate whether agreement or disagreement between the axis of astigmatism as determined by refraction and corneal topography has any influence on the outcome of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) correction of astigmatism.

Influence of Internal Optical Astigmatism on the Correction of Myopic Astigmatism by LASIK

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2011
PURPOSE: To investigate the influence of the origin of astigmatism on the correction of myopic astigmatism by LASIK. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted of the records of 192 patients (192 eyes) undergoing LASIK for correction of myopia and myopic astigmatism from January ...

Astigmatic Keratotomy Followed by Photorefractive Keratectomy in the Treatment of Compound Myopic Astigmatism

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1994
ABSTRACT Eleven eyes of 9 patients that had compound myopic astigmatism were treated by astigmatic keratotmy followed 1 month later by photorefractive keratectomy (PRK). In 9 eyes arcuate incisions were performed, in 1 eye a modified Ruiz procedure was performed, and in 1 eye radial T cuts were done. The mean spherical equivalent was -8.26 +/-

[Photorefractive keratectomy to correct myopic astigmatism].

Hunan yi ke da xue xue bao = Hunan yike daxue xuebao = Bulletin of Hunan Medical University, 1999
The VISX 20/20 excimer laser was used to treat 260 eyes with myopia and myopic astigmatism of 166 patients. All patients were followed up for one year. The diopter of preoperative astigmatism was from -0.25-(- 4.00 D (-1.00 +/- 0.62 D). The diopter was lowered to -0.07 +/- 0.40 D at 6 months postoperatively (P < 0.05) and -0.06 +/- 0.39 D at 12 months ...

Myopic astigmatism and simple myopia correction.

Annals of ophthalmology, 1993
A new technique for the treatment of myopic astigmatism and simple myopia correction is described. The technique is based on bioengineering concepts previously studied by the authors that accurately and mathematically describe the transformation of an ellipsoidal surface (astigmatic eye) into a spheroidal one (nonastigmatic eye) by means of minimal ...

The Effect of Spherical Photorefractive Keratectomy On Myopic Astigmatism

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1995
ABSTRACT The aim of this report is to present the effects of spherical photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) by excimer laser on myopic astigmatism. Spherical PRK was performed in 96 eyes with myopia associated with astigmatism of between 0.75 and 2.00 diopters (D) using the Summit excimer laser.
