Transverse incisions for mixed and myopic idiopathic astigmatism
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1996To determine the efficacy and safety of the Casebeer transverse nomogram for correcting idiopathic astigmatism using transverse incisions (T-incisions) with variable optical zones.Rancho Bernardo Eye Center, San Diego, California. This retrospective study comprised 173 eyes of 100 consecutive patients who had T-incisions according to the Casebeer ...

Surgically induced astigmatism after hyperopic and myopic photorefractive keratectomy
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2001To compare the axis and magnitude of surgically induced refractive astigmatism (SIA) after hyperopic and myopic photorefractive keratectomy (PRK).Department of Ophthalmology, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas, USA.In this single-center retrospective study, the VISX Star S2 excimer laser was used to create a peripheral ...

Complex myopic astigmatism is a prevalent refractive error in Uzbekistan, characterized by the combination of myopia and astigmatism. Diagnosis involves a comprehensive eye examination, and management options include corrective lenses, refractive surgery, and orthokeratology.

Management of myopic astigmatism with phakic intraocular lens implantation
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2002A 48-year-old woman presented with a manifest refraction of -9.25 -2.25 x 98 that resulted in a best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 20/20(-2) in the right eye. She was contact lens intolerant but was not a good candidate for laser in situ keratomileusis because of a thin cornea.

Laser in situ keratomileusis for myopia and myopic astigmatism
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1998To evaluate the precision and safety of myopia and astigmatism correction using laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).Augenchirurgie und Laserzentrum Hoch-Rum (Sanatorium der Kreuzsch-western), Innsbruck, Austria. In this prospective study, LASIK was performed on 66 eyes of 39 patients with myopia ranging from 1.50 to 16.00 diopters (D).

A Mathematic Model to Correct Myopic Astigmatism
2010 4th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2010The corneal surface was modeled as a torus before ablation, and the corneal surface was modeled as a sphere after ablation in the myopic astigmatism eye. So the mathematic model to determine the ablation profile in LASIK or PRK was deduced according the two surfaces . The two different-radii of curvature of the torus along its orthogonal meridians were

Bungee cord-induced corneal lacerations correcting for myopic astigmatism
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2007We present a patient with a refractive error of -3.00 -0.25x150 in the right eye and -3.50 -1.50x170 in the left eye who experienced bungee-cord-related corneal lacerations in the left eye. Slitlamp examination revealed a large radial corneal laceration in the vertical meridian and several smaller lacerations in the periphery. Corneal topography showed

Astigmatic change after myopic spherical excimer PRK.
Bulletin de la Societe belge d'ophtalmologie, 199885 Patients who underwent a spherical PRK with an average of 6.08 dptr. and who could be followed over a period of 1 year were evaluated. After 1 year an average induced astigmatism of 0.58 dptr. was found. There seems to be a correlation between induced astigmatism and depth of PRK but not between induced astigmatism and pre-existent astigmatism.

[Photorefractive keratectomy for correction of myopic astigmatism].
Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde, 1993Nine eyes underwent superficial ablation with excimer laser for treatment of compound myopic astigmatism. In eight of the eyes, corneal cylinder was naturally-occurring, and in one eye the astigmatism had developed following retinal detachment surgery. All patients have been followed for 9 months.
