Myopic shift after removal of Salzmann’s nodular degeneration
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1994A patient with bilateral Salzmann's nodular degeneration developed a myopic shift of 9 diopters in the right eye and 5 diopters in the left eye after removal of his nodules. This previously unreported complication of removal of peripheral corneal pathology is discussed in light of our current understanding of keratorefractive surgery.

Myopic shift after combined phacoemulsification and vitrectomy with gas tamponade
Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2008Combination surgery of vitrectomy and phacoemulsification is a common procedure. The present study was undertaken to determine whether gas tamponade plays a role in the myopic shift that has been found previously after this type of surgery. The study compared 26 subjects undergoing combined procedures without gas tamponade and 28 subjects undergoing the

Transient myopic shift after phakic intraocular lens implantation
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2012Three patients presented with spontaneous myopic shift 6 weeks to 6 months after implantation of the Artiflex phakic intraocular lens (pIOL). The corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA) was maintained in all cases. Cyclopentolate drops successfully reverted the myopic shift in all cases; however, 2 cases required surgical reenclavation of the pIOL ...

Post-LASIK myopic shift after a trek in the North Pole
Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2005Bilateral laser in situ keratomileusis was performed in a 37-year-old male ethnic Chinese adventurer. Eight weeks postoperatively, the patient made an unassisted trek to the geographic North Pole. After 2 weeks in this environment, a myopic shift of more than -1.50 diopters occurred in both eyes. The myopic shift resolved over 2 months when the patient

Prospective analysis of pediatric pseudophakia: Myopic shift and postoperative outcomes
Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2002Limited data exist about long-term refractive changes in eyes of children with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Information of postoperative results should allow more accurate predictions for IOL power implantation in children. Data regarding IOL complications, including secondary membranes, myopic shift, stereopsis, and pseudophakic glaucoma ...
