Surgical Options for the Refractive Correction of Keratoconus: Myth or Reality
Keratoconus provides a decrease of quality of life to the patients who suffer from it. The treatment used as well as the method to correct the refractive error of these patients may influence on the impact of the disease on their quality of life. The purpose of this review is to describe the evidence about the conservative surgical treatment for ...

Age‐Related Loss of Muscle Mass and Strength
Age‐related muscle wasting and increased frailty are major socioeconomic as well as medical problems. In the quest to extend quality of life it is important to increase the strength of elderly people sufficiently so they can carry out everyday tasks and to prevent them falling and breaking bones that are brittle due to osteoporosis.

Impaired Skeletal Muscle Repair after Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury in Mice
Ischemia/reperfusion (IR) injury can induce skeletal muscle fibre death and subsequent regeneration. By 14 days, absolute and specific maximal forces and fatigue resistance in ischemic/reperfused soleus muscles were still reduced (−89%, −81%, and −75%, resp.) as compared to control muscles (P < .05).

Full-ring Intrastromal Corneal Implantation for Correcting High Myopia in Patients with Severe Keratoconus. [PDF]
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the mechanical implantation of a MyoRing in patients with severe keratoconus and high myopia. The study involved 32 eyes of 32 patients (14 men and 18 women; mean age: 29.6 ± 6.7; age range: 20 – 44).

Biomechanically-driven simulations of the MyoRing treatment in subjects with high myopia
Purpose: Corneal biomechanics is a determinant factor for the outcome of continuous intracorneal segments (MyoRing, Dioptex GmbH). However, implant selection remains driven by optical parameters such as the average central curvature of the cornea (Kmean)
