Quantification of Myosin Heavy‐Chain mRNA during Myogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1978
Complementary DNA (cDNA) was synthesized from a 26‐S poly(A)‐containing RNA fraction consisting predominately of myosin mRNA, and used to quantitate the amounts of myosin mRNA during development. RNA · cDNAmyosin hybridizations were performed with RNA isolated from tertiary cultures of chick fibroblasts, and the proportion of myosin RNA determined. The

Modification of Loop 1 Affects the Nucleotide Binding Properties of Myo1c, the Adaptation Motor in the Inner Ear [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Myo1c is one of eight members of the mammalian myosin I family of actin-associated molecular motors. In stereocilia of the hair cells in the inner ear, Myo1c presumably serves as the adaptation motor, which regulates the opening and closing of ...

Two essential light chains regulate the MyoA lever arm to promote Toxoplasma gliding motility [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Key to the virulence of apicomplexan parasites is their ability to move through tissue and to invade and egress from host cells. Apicomplexan motility requires the activity of the glideosome, a multicomponent molecular motor composed of a type XIV myosin,

Combinatorial targeting of G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 and cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 reveals a mechanistic role for bile acids and leukotrienes in drug‐induced liver injury

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
CHIN117 is a dual cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CYSLTR1) antagonist and G‐protein‐coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1) agonist. In the liver, GPBAR1 and CYSLTR1 are coexpressed by liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs), HSCs, circulating monocytes/macrophages, and liver resident macrophages (Kupffer cells).

C57BL/6 life span study: age-related declines in muscle power production and contractile velocity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Quantification of key outcome measures in animal models of aging is an important step preceding intervention testing. One such measurement, skeletal muscle power generation (force * velocity), is critical for dynamic movement.

Dynein structure and power stroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Dynein ATPases are microtubule motors that are critical to diverse processes such as vesicle transport and the beating of sperm tails; however, their mechanism of force generation is unknown.

Engineering Skeletal Muscle Grafts with PAX7::GFP-Sorted Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Myogenic Progenitors on Fibrin Microfiber Bundles for Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesBioengineering, 2022
Tissue engineering strategies that combine human pluripotent stem cell-derived myogenic progenitors (hPDMs) with advanced biomaterials provide promising tools for engineering 3D skeletal muscle grafts to model tissue development in vitro and promote ...

Structures of smooth muscle myosin and heavy meromyosin in the folded, shutdown state [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Remodelling of the contractile apparatus within smooth muscle cells is an essential process that allows effective contractile activity over a wide range of cell lengths.

The chicken myosin heavy chain family.

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1986
We have used a myosin heavy chain gene fragment to probe two chicken genomic libraries. The fragment, derived from a gene expressed in the fast-white fibers of adult chickens, contains 1400 bases upstream from the translational start site and 1600 bases downstream from the initiation codon. Thirty-one unique nonoverlapping clones were isolated.
