MRI of myositis ossificans circumscripta

Clinical Imaging, 1991
Myositis ossificans circumscripta (or pseudomalignant osseous tumor of soft tissue) may be confused with malignant neoplasms if there is no clear history of trauma. Two cases are presented in which magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) clearly demonstrates disproportionally extensive abnormal signal intensity along the course of muscle fibers.

The Angiographic Appearance of Myositis Ossificans Circumscripta

Radiology, 1972
In its active phase, the arteriographic findings in myositis ossificans circumscripta will consist of hypervascularity. The criteria for a malignant lesion, however, will be absent—arteriovenous shunting, venous laking, and vessel amputations. If biopsy is considered, it should be taken from the periphery of the mass in its most mature region.
