Gastric Peroral Endoscopic Tunneled Stricturotomy for Post‐Sleeve Gastrectomy Stenosis: Case Series and Literature Review

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 6, Issue 1, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Gastric peroral endoscopic tunneled stricturotomy (G‐POETS) has emerged as a novel procedure to treat post‐sleeve gastrectomy stenosis. We present a case series highlighting the use of G‐POETS to treat sleeve stenosis. Clinical success was assessed using the Dakkak‐Bennett Dysphagia Score and the Gastroparesis Cardinal Symptom Index.

Minimally invasive pediatric surgery: Increasing implementation in daily practice and resident’s training [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Background: In 1998, the one-year experience in minimally invasive abdominal surgery in children at a pediatric training center was assessed. Seven years later, we determined the current status of pediatric minimally invasive surgery in daily practice ...

EAES Clinical Practice Guideline 2026 Protocol: Multi‐Society Recommendations for the Treatment of Achalasia

open access: yesClinical and Public Health Guidelines, Volume 3, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Achalasia causes significant distress and quality‐of‐life impairment to patients. Several options exist for the treatment of achalasia including endoscopic [intra‐sphincteric injection of botulinum toxin, pneumatic dilation, peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM)], and surgical techniques such as Heller Myotomy.

Robot-assisted Heller myotomy for achalasia

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2019
Achalasia is a rare neuromuscular esophageal disorder in children. There are many surgical options to treatment including botulinum toxin (Botox) injections, oral pharmacologic therapies with nitrates and calcium channel blockers, pneumatic dilation (PD),

Evaluation of Dysphagia in Myositis and Muscular Dystrophy Using Real‐Time MRI and Quantitative Muscle Ultrasound

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 2, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Swallowing dysfunction—dysphagia—is a frequent and debilitating symptom in neuromuscular disorders, leading to malnutrition, cachexia, aspiration pneumonia, and death. Identification of the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms is important for diagnosis and treatment.

Contributions of biarticular myogenic components to the limitation of the range of motion after immobilization of rat knee joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Muscle atrophy caused by immobilization in the shortened position is characterized by a decrease in the size or cross-sectional area (CSA) of myofibers and decreased muscle length.

An Exploratory Endoscopic Achalasia Phenotype With Visible Squamocolumnar Junction and Distal Esophagogastric Junction Relaxation Failure: Association With Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease After Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (With Video)

open access: yesDigestive Endoscopy, Volume 38, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Backgrounds and Aims Esophageal achalasia is typically defined by impaired lower esophageal sphincter (LES) relaxation. In rare cases, complete circumferential visibility of the squamocolumnar junction (SCJ) and upper gastric folds (GFs) is seen endoscopically, suggesting functional obstruction may extend to the distal esophagogastric junction

Pyloric Metrics and Distensibility Plateau by Functional Luminal Imaging Probe in Pediatric Patients: A Pilot Study

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, Volume 38, Issue 4, April 2026.
Pediatric patients underwent pyloric functional luminal imaging probe (FLIP) for refractory upper gastrointestinal symptoms. Unlike prior adult studies, pyloric distensibility did not correlate to gastric emptying, and patients with higher distensibility more frequently responded to botulinum toxin. The presence of a distensibility plateau enhanced the
