Monitoring of Water Quality for Reduced Water Use in a Partial Recirculating Aquaculture System

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 5, Issue 3, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Partial recirculating aquaculture systems (PRASs) aim for combining the benefits of flow‐through systems (water use of approximately 50,000 L kg−1 feed) and recirculating aquaculture systems (RASs, 500–1000 L kg−1 feed). While water quality is usually excellent in flow‐through systems, large volumes of water of good quality are required.

Discovery and In Vitro Reconstitution of Closoxazole Biosynthesis from Pyxidicoccus fallax

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 26, Issue 10, May 27, 2025.
The myxobacterium Pyxidicoccus fallax is found to be a producer of benzoxazole‐containing natural products named closoxazoles. In vitro studies with the biosynthetic enzymes reveal new insights into the reaction mechanism for closoxazole formation.

The myxocoumarins A and B from Stigmatella aurantiaca strain MYX-030

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
The myxobacterial strain Stigmatella aurantiaca MYX-030 was selected as promising source for the discovery of new biologically active natural products by our screening methodology. The isolation, structure elucidation and initial biological evaluation of

Myxobacteria Are Able to Prey Broadly upon Clinically-Relevant Pathogens, Exhibiting a Prey Range Which Cannot Be Explained by Phylogeny

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Myxobacteria are natural predators of microorganisms and the subjects of concerted efforts to identify novel antimicrobial compounds. Myxobacterial predatory activity seems to require more than just the possession of specific antimicrobial metabolites ...

Antibiotics from predatory bacteria

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2016
Bacteria, which prey on other microorganisms, are commonly found in the environment. While some of these organisms act as solitary hunters, others band together in large consortia before they attack their prey.

Search for hits and early leads from soil bacteria to combat infectious diseases

open access: yesJournal of Infection in Developing Countries, 2018
Introduction: Natural products are the source of a large fraction of the current pharmaceutics available against human disease. However, the discovery of novel compounds with new mechanisms of action is becoming increasingly challenging.
