Redescription of Myxobolus pyramidis Chen, 1958(Myxosporea: Bivalvulida)
Parasitology Research, 2006Redescription of Myxobolus pyramidis Chen, 1958, from gill lamellae of allogynogenetic gibel carp, Carassius auratus gibelio (Bloch), is presented in this paper to complete Chen's description. The diagnostic characters of the myxosporidia are: ovoid round, greyish-white polysporous plasmodia, averaging (159+/-21)x(72+/-6.5) mum in size; spore pyriform ...

Sporogenesis and spore structure in Kudoa lunata (Myxosporea, Multivalvulida)
Parasitology Research, 1988The multivalvulid myxosporean Kudoa lunata Lom, Dyková and Lhotáková, 1983 forms large polysporic trophozoites within the myocytes of scaldfish, Arnoglossus imperialis and A. laterna. The spores arise by the division of generative cells that produce a number of sporogonic cells necessary to complete a sporoblast.

The phylogeny of Myxosporea (Myxozoa) based on small subunit ribosomal RNA gene analysis
International Journal for Parasitology, 2006The phylogeny of the Myxosporea was studied using the small-subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences. Maximum parsimony and Bayesian inference were used to determine myxosporean phylogenetic relationships. The analysis included 120 myxosporean sequences retrieved from GenBank and 21 newly obtained sequences of myxosporeans representing nine genera. Members

Settling Rates and Density of Spores of Henneguya doori (Myxosporea) in Water
The Journal of Parasitology, 1992Using Henneguya doori from Perca flavescens (yellow perch), the current study provides a method for examining settling rates, attitudes, and densities of myxosporean spores. Fresh and fixed spores settled similarly at 8.34 x 10(-6) m/sec and 8.53 x 10(-6) m/sec, respectively.

Myxosporea: a new look at long-known parasites of fish
Parasitology Today, 1987With the identification of Myxosporea as agents of swimbladder inflammation (SBI) in carp, and proliferative kidney disease (PKD) in salmonids, this group of over 1000 protistan species has been receiving renewed attention. Almost all species are parasites offish, and some can cause serious losses in commercial fish farms. Yet adequate control measures
