The addition of molybdenum to urea changes its characteristics and can react with N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide [PDF]
The development or blending of new products represents a common practice of improvement for the efficiency of existing commercialized fertilizers. The physicochemical characteristics of new formulations differ from those of raw materials.

The current study investigated the short-term physiological implications of plant nitrogen uptake of urea amended with the urease inhibitor N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (nBTPT) under both greenhouse and field conditions. 15N labelled urea amended with 0.0, 0.01, 0.1 and 0.5% nBTPT (w/w) was surface applied at a rate equivalent to 100 kg N ha−1 ...

The nickel-dependent enzyme urease is a virulence factor for a large number of pathogenic and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, as well as a negative factor for the efficiency of soil nitrogen fertilization for crop production. The use of urease inhibitors to offset these effects requires knowledge, at a molecular level, of their mode of action.

Nitrous oxide emission and nitrogen use efficiency in response to nitrophosphate, N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide and dicyandiamide of a wheat cultivated soil under sub-humid monsoon conditions [PDF]
A field experiment was designed to study the effects of nitrogen (N) source and urease inhibitor N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT) or nitrification inhibitor dicyandiamide (DCD) on nitrous oxide (N2O) emission and N use efficiency (NUE) in a ...

Use of N-(n-butyl)thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT) to increase safety of seed-placed urea
Current guidelines for safe seedrow placement of urea N in the western Canadian prairies are based on texture, seedbed utilization and soil moisture conditions at the time of seeding. However, if N requirement is high, not all fertilizer N requirements can be met as excess urea N in the seedrow may result in plant stand reduction, delay in maturity ...

An evaluation of the N2O emission reduction potential of enhanced efficiency nitrogen fertilizers and application timing in a semi-arid cereal cropping system. [PDF]
Abstract Efforts to cut fertilizer‐related nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions require sustainable nitrogen (N) management that maintains crop productivity while reducing emissions. Technologies such as enhanced efficiency N fertilizers (EENFs) have potential to support best management practices by improving N use efficiency and lowering N2O emissions.

This study investigated the effects of the urease inhibitor N-(n-Butyl)thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT) on milk protein isolate (MPI) dispersions. The addition of NBPT to MPI led to significant (p < 0.05) reductions in particle size (from 154 to 119nm) and

Short-Term Treatment with the Urease Inhibitor N-(n-Butyl) Thiophosphoric Triamide (NBPT) Alters Urea Assimilation and Modulates Transcriptional Profiles of Genes Involved in Primary and Secondary Metabolism in Maize Seedlings. [PDF]
To limit nitrogen (N) losses from the soil, it has been suggested to provide urea to crops in conjunction with the urease inhibitor N-(n-butyl) thiophosphoric triamide (NBPT).

Decoding Urease Inhibition: A Comprehensive Review of Inhibitor Scaffolds. [PDF]
Representative functional groups known for urease inhibition are reviewed within diverse scaffolds using structure–activity analyses to identify features associated with high inhibitory activity. Urease is a metalloenzyme produced by a wide range of organisms and plays a critical role in nitrogen microbial metabolism by catalyzing the hydrolysis of ...
