Mixtures of DEET and the polymers were prepared and analysed for DEET vapour release using head space analysis. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) showed the highest affinity for DEET.

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 2005The penetration of DEET through split-thickness cadaver skin was measured in non-occluded Franz cells placed either in a fume hood or on a laboratory workbench. DEET, dissolved in a small volume of ethanol and spiked with (14)C radiolabel was applied to skin at doses from 0.02 to 11000 microg/cm(2).

Removal of the insect repellent N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET) by laccase-mediated systems
Bioresource Technology, 2013Numerous efforts have been made to remove emerging trace organic contaminants, such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs). This study examined the removal of N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET) by Trametes versicolor laccase and its laccase-mediator systems. Experimental results showed that DEET was poorly removed by laccase alone.
