Transport–Reaction–Signal Coupling in Lateral Flow Assays for Next‐Generation Point‐of‐Care Diagnostics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lateral flow assays are evolving into interdisciplinary, system‐level sensing platforms. Recent innovations are deconstructed through coupled phases of mass transfer, reaction, and signal transduction, revealing interdependence across porous materials, interfacial chemistry, nanolabels, readout devices, and data‐enabled analysis.

WFS1 Deficiency Impairs PIAS4‐Associated SUMOylation and Increases Ubiquitin‐Mediated Spermatogenesis‐Related Protein Degradation Leading to Testicular Male Infertility

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The findings establish a critical role for WFS1 in human male fertility. Mechanistically, WFS1 interacts with PIAS4 to promote the SUMOylation of key spermatogenesis‐associated proteins, which in turn competitively inhibits their K48‐linked ubiquitin‐mediated degradation during spermatogenesis.

Machine learning driven many‐objective moving horizon scheduling optimization

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Industrial electrification can decarbonize chemical manufacturing, but it exposes operations to volatile electricity prices and carbon intensities. This work develops a machine learning‐enhanced many‐objective moving horizon scheduling framework that predicts objective correlation groupings from 48‐hour price and emission‐intensity profiles ...

Autonomous AI‐Driven Design for Skin Product Formulations

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review presents a comprehensive closed‐loop framework for autonomous skin product formulation design. By integrating artificial intelligence‐driven experiment selection with automated multi‐tiered assays, the approach shifts development from trial‐and‐error to intelligent optimisation.

Improved Lipschitz bounds with the first norm for function values over multidimensional simplex

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2008
A branch and bound algorithm for global optimization is proposed, where the maximum of an upper bounding function based on Lipschitz condition and the first norm over a simplex is used as the upper bound of function.

Particle Swarm Optimization as a Noise‐Tolerant Strategy for High‐Entropy Alloy Research

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A customized particle swarm optimization algorithm is benchmarked against batch Bayesian optimization across four high‐entropy alloy oxygen‐reduction landscapes. While both methods locate the global optimum comparably under noise‐free conditions, Bayesian optimization’s surrogate model tends to overfit noisy data.

About properties of l-medians for k-simplex and k-prism

open access: yesДифференциальная геометрия многообразий фигур, 2018
We consider k -simplex and k -prism of n-dimensional affine space. We prove some theorems about medians of k -simplex. l-median of k-prism is defined. We prove the theorems about properties for l-median of k-prism.

The smallest capsid protein mediates binding of the essential tegument protein pp150 to stabilize DNA-containing capsids in human cytomegalovirus. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2013
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a ubiquitous herpesvirus that causes birth defects in newborns and life-threatening complications in immunocompromised individuals. Among all human herpesviruses, HCMV contains a much larger dsDNA genome within a similarly-

Farm labor scarcity and its uneven impacts on crop producers in the United States

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This study is the first to evaluate the impacts of farm labor scarcity on producers in the United States across different crop production systems. Between 2002 and 2017, we disentangle the effects of labor scarcity from the impacts of rising commodity demand, technological change, and supply of other inputs on labor market outcomes.
