In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Distance Measure for Fermatean Neutrosophic Sets: A Comparative Framework for Qualitative Evaluation [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
This work introduces a novel distance measure specifically designed for Fermatean Neutrosophic sets (FNS), extending upon existing measures such as the intuitionistic fuzzy distance and single-valued Neutrosophy distance measures.

Effect of chemotherapy on passenger mutations in metastatic colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Changes in passenger mutation load and predicted immunotherapy response after chemotherapy treatment. Tumor cells rich with passenger mutations have increased sensitivity to chemotherapy. Correlation of passenger mutations with neoantigen load suggests highly mutated clones promote a more effective response to immunotherapy, and therefore, first‐line ...

Extremal Unicyclic Graphs With Minimal Distance Spectral Radius

open access: yesDiscussiones Mathematicae Graph Theory, 2014
The distance spectral radius ρ(G) of a graph G is the largest eigenvalue of the distance matrix D(G). Let U (n,m) be the class of unicyclic graphs of order n with given matching number m (m ≠ 3).

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

The Distance Matrices of Some Graphs Related to Wheel Graphs

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2013
Let D denote the distance matrix of a connected graph G. The inertia of D is the triple of integers (n+(D), n0(D), n-(D)), where n+(D), n0(D), and n-(D) denote the number of positive, 0, and negative eigenvalues of D, respectively.

Spatial and spin symmetry breaking in semidefinite-programming-based Hartree-Fock theory

open access: yes, 2018
The Hartree-Fock problem was recently recast as a semidefinite optimization over the space of rank-constrained two-body reduced-density matrices (RDMs) [Phys. Rev. A 89, 010502(R) (2014)].

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Metastability in Monte Carlo simulation of 2D Ising films and in Fe monolayer strips

open access: yes, 1997
Effective Curie temperatures measured in Fe monolayer strips agree reasonable with computer sinulations of two-dimensional Ising model strips. The simulations confirm the domain structure seen already by Albano et al.Comment: 3 pages, plain tex, 5 ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.
