Isotypic one-dimensional coordination polymers: catena-poly[[dichloridocadmium]-μ-5,6-bis(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylato-κ2N5:N6] and catena-poly[[dichloridomercury(II)]-μ-5,6-bis(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylato-κ2N5:N6]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2016
The isotypic title one-dimensional coordination polymers, [CdCl2(C18H14N4O4)]n, (I), and [HgCl2(C18H14N4O4)]n, (II), are, respectively, the cadmium(II) and mercury(II) complexes of the dimethyl ester of 5,6-bis(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine-2,3-dicarboxylic acid.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

(Formato-κO)bis(1,10-phenanthroline-κ2N,N′)copper(II) formate hexahydrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2008
In the title compound, [Cu(CHO2)(C12H8N2)2]CHO2·6H2O, the Cu atom is coordinated in a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal fashion by an O atom of the formate ligand and four N atoms of two phenanthroline ligands with Cu—O and Cu—N distances ...

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

[μ-N,N,N′,N′-Tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)butane-1,4-diamine]bis[diacetatocadmium(II)] nonahydrate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
The title dinuclear complex, [Cd2(CH3CO2)4(C28H32N6)]·9H2O, is located on a crystallographic inversion center. The unique CdII ion displays a 5 + 2 coordination.

Uniform spin chain physics arising from NCN bridges in CuNCN: surprises on the way from copper oxides to their nitride analogs

open access: yes, 2009
We report on the unexpected uniform spin chain physics in CuNCN, the insulating nitride analog of copper oxides. Based on full-potential band structure calculations, we derive the relevant microscopic parameters, estimate individual exchange couplings ...

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

From the Coulomb breakup of halo nuclei to neutron radiative capture

open access: yes, 2016
Coulomb breakup is used to infer radiative-capture cross sections at astrophysical energies. We test theoretically the accuracy of this indirect technique in the particular case of 15C, for which both the Coulomb breakup to ^{14}C+n and the radiative ...
