A novel erythropoietin (EPO) promoter mutation (c.‐136 G>A) causes autosomal dominant erythrocytosis via non‐renal expression of EPO. ABSTRACT We previously reported a five‐generation kindred with autosomal dominant erythrocytosis associated with a novel germline promoter variant in the erythropoietin (EPO) gene (EPO c.‐136 G>A).

Mucin Glycoprotein Nanoparticles Enable a Selective Antisense Therapy for Oncogenic MicroRNAs
Mucin glycoproteins are turned into nanoparticles by employing synthetic DNA strands, which have a dual function: they stabilize the nanoparticles and act as binding sites for intracellular miRNA‐21. Thus, upon internalization into tumor cells, these mucin nanoparticles can deplete miRNA‐21 from the cytosol, which induces apoptosis in vitro and in vivo.

The chemoenzymatic synthesis of glycan-terminated oligo(Leu)x
Introduction: Glycopeptides contain carbohydrate moieties (glycans) covalently attached to the side chain and/or terminal peptide units. Since glycans are present on cell surfaces, these constructs can potentially address a wide array of therapeutic ...

Distinct CD16a features on human NK cells observed by flow cytometry correlate with increased ADCC
Natural killer (NK) cells destroy tissue that have been opsonized with antibodies. Strategies to generate or identify cells with increased potency are expected to enhance NK cell-based immunotherapies.

N-glycan, a critical quality attribute (CQA) of monoclonal antibodies, profoundly impacts potency, immunogenicity, safety, and clinical efficiency. Therefore, N-glycan should be monitored and controlled during development. The conventional 2-AB method is

The potential of glycomics as prognostic biomarkers in liver disease and liver transplantation [PDF]
The study of glycomics is a novel and fascinating approach for the development of biomarkers. It has become clear that in the field of liver disease specific glycomic patters are present in specific disease states, which has led to the development of ...
