n‐Hexane Polyneuropathy†

Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences, 1969
SummaryNinety‐three cases of intoxication polyneuropathy occured among household workers exposed to excess concentrations of the n‐hexane vapor over several months or more. The chief manifestation was polyneuropathy of glove‐and‐stocking type. According to the mode of involvement, they were classified into three groups: sensory polyneuropathy 53 cases,

Influence of pressure and temperature on explosion characteristics of n-hexane/air mixtures

Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2019
N-hexane is an important alternative fuel for aviation kerosene in recent years. In this study, experiments of n-hexane in air at various initial temperatures of 353–393 K, initial pressures of 60–100 kPa and equivalence ratio of 0.7–1.7 were carried out

Photocatalytic ozonation mechanism of gaseous n-hexane on MOx–TiO2–foam nickel composite (M = Cu, Mn, Ag): unveiling the role of ˙OH and ˙O2−

Environmental Science: Nano, 2019
The role of ˙OH and ˙O2− in the photocatalytic ozonation mechanism of gaseous n-hexane is disclosed based on experimental and theoretical methods.

n-Hexane Polyneuropathy

European Neurology, 2008
The epidemiological, clinical, electrophysiological and nerve biopsy findings of 3 cases of n-hexane neuropathy in shoe industry are reported. The disease affects more than 1 person working in the same environment, regardless of their specific role, and occurs in factories where standards of hygiene are low.

Method for the simultaneous quantification of n-hexane metabolites: application to n-hexane metabolism determination

Human & Experimental Toxicology, 1996
1 The described analytical procedure permits the simultaneous determination of the main n-hexane meta bolites in urine. 2-Hexanone, 2-hexanol, 2, 5-hexanediol and 2, 5-hexanedione, were chosen to dose the rats used in this study. All urine samples were collected and analysed on a daily basis, before and after acidic hydrolysis (pH 0.1) by GC/MS.

Pt supported on Zn modified silicalite-1 zeolite as a catalyst for n-hexane aromatization

Journal of Energy Chemistry, 2019
Platinum (Pt) supported on Zinc (Zn) modified silicalite-1 (S-1) zeolite (denoted as Pt-Zn/S-1) was prepared by using a wetness-impregnation method and applied in the n-hexane aromatization reaction for the first time.

Enhanced biodegradation of n-hexane from the air stream using rhamnolipid in a biofilter packed with a mixture of compost, scoria, sugar beet pulp and poplar tree skin

Atmospheric pollution research, 2019
Biofiltration of n-hexane vapors with and without using rhamnolipid biosurfactant was investigated on a laboratory scale biofilter packed with compost, scoria, sugar beet pulp, and poplar tree skin at empty bed residence times (EBRT) of 30, 60 and 120s ...

Effects of hydrogen addition on the explosion characteristics of n-hexane/air mixtures

International journal of hydrogen energy, 2019
To study the effects of hydrogen addition on the explosion characteristics (the explosion pressure and maximum rate of pressure rise) of n-hexane/air mixtures, experiments were performed in a cylindrical vessel at 100 kPa, 353 K, with equivalence ratios ...

N-hexane maculopathy in industrial workers

Albrecht von Graefes Archiv fr Klinische und Experimentelle Ophthalmologie, 1978
A neuro-ophthalmologic examination, including fluorescein angiography and colour discrimination tests, was made of 15 workers (age range 30--65 years, mean 45.8 years) exposed to n-hexane (range of exposure 5--21 years) during vegetable oil extracting and adhesive bandage manufacturing.
