Ozonation of wastewater containing N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide
Water Research, 1996Abstract Ozonation of synthetic wastewater containing N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) was investigated in batch experiments at different pH-values. Increasing pH caused higher initial elimination rates of NMMO as well as higher formation rates of nitrate.

Enhanced enzymatic hydrolysis of sugarcane bagasse by N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide pretreatment
Bioresource Technology, 2009The cellulose dissolution solvent used in Lyocell process for cellulose fiber preparation, N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) monohydrate, was demonstrated to be an effective agent for sugarcane bagasse pretreatment. Bagasse of 20wt% was readily dissolved in NMMO monohydrate at 130 degrees C within 1h.

Interactions between cellulose and N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide
Carbohydrate Polymers, 2007Abstract Cellulose II structure was obtained when cellulose precipitated from NMMO/H 2 O/cellulose solution by adding excess water. The regenerated cellulose was three times more reactive than that of untreated cellulose in hydrolysis reactions. Crystallisation of cellulose/N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide hydrate solutions
Polymer, 2002N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide (NMMO) hydrates are direct solvents for cellulose used commercially in the preparation of cellulose spinning dopes for fibre and film manufacturing. The fact that the cellulose/NMMO/water solutions can crystallise under cooling is important in the process of preparing fibres and films and in their structure formation.
