Human proto-oncogene N-myc encodes nuclear proteins that bind DNA. [PDF]
N-myc is a gene whose amplification has been implicated in the genesis of several malignant human tumors. We have identified two proteins with molecular weights of 65,000 and 67,000 encoded by N-myc. The abundance of these proteins in tumor cells was consonant with the extent of amplification of N-myc.

Detection of amplified DNA sequences by reverse chromosome painting using genomic tumor DNA as probe [PDF]
A modification of reverse chromosome painting was carried out using genomic DNA from tumor cells as a complex probe for chromosomal in situ suppression hybridization to normal metaphase chromsome spreads.

Wnt/beta-catenin/Tcf signaling: A critical pathway in gastrointestinal tumorigenesis [PDF]
Cancers of the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver, bile ducts, and pancreas, constitute the largest group of malignant tumors. Colorectal cancer is one of the most common neoplastic diseases in Western countries and one of the leading causes of ...

KDM2B/FBXL10 targets c-Fos for ubiquitylation and degradation in response to mitogenic stimulation. [PDF]
KDM2B (also known as FBXL10) controls stem cell self-renewal, somatic cell reprogramming and senescence, and tumorigenesis. KDM2B contains multiple functional domains, including a JmjC domain that catalyzes H3K36 demethylation and a CxxC zinc-finger that

Targeting of RET oncogene by naphthalene diimide-mediated gene promoter G-quadruplex stabilization exerts anti-tumor activity in oncogene-addicted human medullary thyroid cancer [PDF]
Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) relies on the aberrant activation of RET proto-oncogene. Though targeted approaches (i.e., tyrosine kinase inhibitors) are available, the absence of complete responses and the onset of resistance mechanisms indicate the ...

High-Resolution Three-Dimensional NMR Structure Of The KRAS Proto-Oncogene Promoter Reveals Key Features Of A G-Quadruplex Involved In Transcriptional Regulation [PDF]
Non-canonical base pairing within guanine-rich DNA and RNA sequences can produce G-quartets, whose stacking leads to the formation of a G-quadruplex (G4).

Preferential expression of the transcription coactivator HTIF1alpha gene in acute myeloid leukemia and MDS-related AML [PDF]
HTIF1α, a transcription coactivator which is able to mediate RARα activity and functionally interact with PML, is encoded by a gene on chromosome 7q32–34, which is a critical region in acute myeloid leukemias (AML). With the assumption that this gene may

The Nefarious Nexus of Noncoding RNAs in Cancer [PDF]
The past decade has witnessed enormous progress, which has seen the noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) turn from the so called dark matter RNA to critical functional molecules, influencing most physiological processes in development and disease contexts.
