Association of Natriuretic Peptide With Adverse Outcomes and Disease Severity After Intracerebral Hemorrhage: A Systematic Review

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2021
Background: Over the past decade, many studies have reported the association of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) with clinical outcome of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH).

Biological Variation of N-Terminal Pro-Brain Natriuretic Peptide in Healthy Individuals [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2003
Brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) and its N-terminal prohormone (NT-proBNP) fragment have been shown to be effective in diagnosing left ventricular dysfunction (1)(2), and in particular, they have a strong negative predictive value (3). NT-proBNP and the hormone are secreted on an equimolar basis, but NT-proBNP lacks a clearance receptor.

Association of N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide with cognitive function and depression in elderly people with type 2 diabetes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
<p>Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is associated with risk of congestive heart failure (CHF), cognitive dysfunction and depression. CHF itself is linked both to poor cognition and depression.

A Multi-marker Model for Predicting Decompensated Heart Failure in Patients with Prior Acute Myocardial Infarction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The aim of the study was to assess the prognostic value of determining the plasma concentration of NT-proBNP and ST2 in the patients with decompensated HF and prior acute myocardial infarction and their combination in this category of patients.Materials ...

Natriuretic peptides and integrated risk assessment for cardiovascular disease. an individual-participant-data meta-analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND: Guidelines for primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases focus on prediction of coronary heart disease and stroke. We assessed whether or not measurement of N-terminal-pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) concentration could enable ...

Urinary N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide: prognostic value in patients with acute chest pain

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, 2021
Aims The objective of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of urinary N‐terminal pro‐brain natriuretic peptide (NT‐proBNP) compared with plasma NT‐proBNP in patients presenting with acute chest pain in the emergency department.

N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide in coronary artery disease

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2015
Dear Editor We refer to your recently published report entitled N-terminal pro brain natriuretic peptide in coronary artery disease [1]. Radwan et al. describe NT-proBNP as a ‘valuable marker for predicting prognosis and severity of coronary artery disease in patients with acute coronary syndrome’ [1].

N-Terminal Pro–B-Type Natriuretic Peptide in the Emergency Department: The ICON-RELOADED Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background Contemporary reconsideration of diagnostic N-terminal pro–B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) cutoffs for diagnosis of heart failure (HF) is needed.

Resetting the neurohormonal balance in heart failure (HF). the relevance of the natriuretic peptide (NP) system to the clinical management of patients with HF [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The natriuretic peptide (NP) system, which includes atrial natriuretic peptide, B-type natriuretic peptide, and C-type natriuretic peptide, has an important role in cardiovascular homeostasis, promoting a number of physiological effects including ...

Effect of Natriuretic Peptide-Guided Therapy on Hospitalization or Cardiovascular Mortality in High-Risk Patients With Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction: A Randomized Clinical Trial. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Importance: The natriuretic peptides are biochemical markers of heart failure (HF) severity and predictors of adverse outcomes. Smaller studies have evaluated adjusting HF therapy based on natriuretic peptide levels ( guided therapy ) with inconsistent ...
