The Role of Tropical Cyclone—Ocean Interactions in Future Changes in Hurricane Katrina

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Tropical cyclone (TC) intensity and precipitation are projected to increase in the future. However, some projections are based on atmosphere‐only models in which sea surface temperatures are prescribed, whereas projections based on global atmosphere‐ocean coupled models can be subject to long‐term ocean biases.

Solvent‐Controlled Electrochemical Cyclization of Areneazo‐2‐(2‐nitro)propanes to Benzo[c]cinnolines

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, Volume 368, Issue 9, 5 May 2026.
Solvent‐mediated redox pathway control enables the first electrochemical cyclization of areneazo‐2‐(2‐nitro)propanes to benzo[c]cinnolines. Mixed solvent systems containing hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) and MeOH additives widen the redox potential gaps and stabilize diazonium intermediates via hydrogen bonding, favoring oxidative intramolecular ...

Kontrolle heterogener Katalyse mittels Unter‐Oberflächen‐Sauerstoff

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 19, 4 May 2026.

Controlling Heterogeneous Catalysis With Subsurface Oxygen

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 65, Issue 19, 4 May 2026.
During CO oxidation on rhodium surfaces, the reaction dynamics are markedly altered in the presence of subsurface oxygen. Subsurface oxygen stabilizes the nascent physisorbed CO2 formed after the surface reaction, allowing it to become transiently trapped and thermalize with the surface.

Nobody Knows Better: Examining the Link Between Overconfidence and Conspiracy Beliefs

open access: yesApplied Cognitive Psychology, Volume 40, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
ABSTRACT This research explored the relationship between overconfidence and conspiracy beliefs. In Study 1, cross‐sectional analyses demonstrated that both overconfidence in general knowledge and in climate change knowledge were positively associated with climate change conspiracy beliefs.
