Contribution of Rare and Potentially Functionally Relevant Sequence Variants in Schizophrenia Risk‐Locus Xq28,distal

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, Volume 198, Issue 3, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Duplications of the Xq28,distal locus have been described in male and female patients with schizophrenia (SCZ) or intellectual disability. The Xq28,distal locus spans eight protein‐coding genes (F8, CMC4, MTCP1, BRCC3, VBP1, FUNDC2, CLIC2, and RAB39B) and is flanked by recurrent genomic breakpoints.

Click Chemistry for the Assembly of Gold Nanorods and Silver Nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The synthesis of compact nanostructures with highly integratedfunctionalities through the controlled assembly ofnanoparticles (NPs) is potentially of broad interest in researchfields such as drug delivery, multimodal imaging, andelectronic devices.

A brain DNA co‐methylation network analysis of psychosis in Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION The presence of psychosis in Alzheimer's disease (AD) is suggested to be associated with distinct molecular and neuropathological profiles in the brain. METHODS We assessed brain DNA methylation in AD donors with psychosis (AD+P) and without psychosis (AD−P) using the EPIC array.

Mendelian randomization analysis using GWAS and eQTL data to investigate the relationship between chronotype and neuropsychiatric disorders and their molecular basis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, Volume 195, Issue 7, October 2024.
Abstract Chronotype is a proxy sleep measure that has been associated with neuropsychiatric disorders. By investigating how chronotype influences risk for neuropsychiatric disorders and vice versa, we may identify modifiable risk factors for each phenotype.

DNA condensation and redissolution: Interaction between overcharged DNA molecules

open access: yes, 2004
The effective DNA-DNA interaction force is calculated by computer simulations with explicit tetravalent counterions and monovalent salt. For overcharged DNA molecules, the interaction force shows a double-minimum structure.

Phase diagram of solution of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
We study a solution of long polyanions (PA) with shorter polycations (PC) and focus on the role of Coulomb interaction. A good example is solutions of DNA and PC which are widely studied for gene therapy.

Associations between polygenic liability to psychopathology and non‐suicidal versus suicidal self‐injury

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, Volume 195, Issue 7, October 2024.
Abstract Little is known about how non‐suicidal and suicidal self‐injury are differentially genetically related to psychopathology and related measures. This research was conducted using the UK Biobank Resource, in participants of European ancestry (N = 2320 non‐suicidal self‐injury [NSSI] only; N = 2648 suicide attempt; 69.18% female).

Enlarged infarct volume and loss of BDNF mRNA induction following brain ischemia in mice lacking FGF-2 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
FGF-2, a potent multifunctional and neurotrophic growth factor, is widely expressed in the brain and upregulated in cerebral ischemia. Previous studies have shown that intraventricularly or systemically administered FGF-2 reduces the size of cerebral ...
