Cerebral Hemodynamic Changes During Cardiac Surgery: A Feasibility MR Study in Piglets. [PDF]

open access: yesNMR Biomed
Congenital heart disease surgery in infants requires cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), which increases the risk of brain injury. Conventional heart‐lung machines (HLMs) cannot operate inside MRI scanners, limiting real‐time assessment of cerebral changes. We developed an MR‐conditional HLM and tested it in piglets during CPB.

Host‐Induced Silencing of Rhizoctonia Solani 5‐Enolpyruvylshikimate‐3‐Phosphate Synthase Impairs Its Virulence in Rice

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sheath blight disease of rice caused by the fungal pathogen R. solani AG1‐IA remains a big threat to rice production worldwide. A limited genetic variation in rice for tolerance to this pathogen and little success in understanding how it defeats host defence are major reasons behind it.

A Modified Cas9 Scaffold Allows Extension of the Virus‐Induced Gene Editing Technology to the Large Potyvirus Genus

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant viruses are recognized as rapid and effective vectors to deliver CRISPR‐Cas reaction components into plants, a strategy termed virus‐induced gene editing (VIGE). However, VIGE is limited by the host range of the viral vectors. Development of new viral vectors to target a broad range of plant species will potentially enable the delivery ...

Time‐series multi‐omics analysis of micronutrient stress in Sorghum bicolor reveals iron and zinc crosstalk and regulatory network conservation

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Overlap between Fe and Zn responsive gene regulatory networks (GRNs) were found, indicative of micronutrient crosstalk, and conservation of root and leaf GRNs and genes suggests strong constraint on homeostasis networks in plants. Abstract Micronutrient stress impacts growth, biomass production, and grain yield in crops.

Exogenous IAA application alleviated altered physiological and biochemical processes through promoting H‐ATPase and Fe chelate reductase activities in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) subjected to iron deficiency

open access: yesPlant Biology, EarlyView.
Exogenous IAA supply enhances the strategy I response in common bean under iron deficiency. Abstract Iron deficiency is a common nutritional disorder observed in calcareous soils, where its resolution by classical methods has shown its failure. However, the exploitation of certain potentialities possessed by crops (rhizosphere acidification, H‐ATPase ...

TEAM‐UP: Mixed‐Methods Data for Understanding Traditional and Modern Contraceptive Use Dynamics in Four Sub‐Saharan African Countries

open access: yesStudies in Family Planning, EarlyView.
Abstract This Data Article describes a novel dataset from the “Re‐Examining Traditional Method Use” (TEAM‐UP) project, which systematically collected data on the measurement of and motivations for use of non‐modern (traditional and folkloric) contraceptive methods and/or modern methods, in four sub‐Saharan African countries: the Democratic Republic of ...

Methodological Innovations for Evidencing and Estimating Modern and Traditional Contraceptive Prevalence and Use Dynamics in Sub‐Saharan Africa

open access: yesStudies in Family Planning, EarlyView.
Abstract Contraceptive prevalence estimates are indicators of the performance of family planning programs. Yet, available evidence suggests that national surveys may be underestimating the prevalence of traditional methods. The apparent underestimation of traditional methods stems from current approaches for collecting, analyzing, and reporting ...

Cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes: Pathophysiological mechanisms and opportunities for multiscale computational modelling and simulation

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Overview of multiscale cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes and how to model and simulate these changes using a human‐based, multiscale computational framework. Cardiac remodelling in type 2 diabetes occurs at ionic channel, protein, cellular, tissue and whole‐organ level, affecting the electrophysiological function, mechanical

Digital genetic counseling services for cascade cardiogenetic testing

open access: yesJournal of Genetic Counseling, Volume 35, Issue 3, June 2026.
Abstract Digital interventions are potentially promising to improve accessibility and efficiency of genetic counseling services. However, current literature on user perspectives toward digital tools for cascade testing is limited. Therefore, this focus‐group study aimed to gain insights into the attitude and perspectives of probands, at‐risk relatives (
