Cefdinir binding to a class A β‐lactamase revealed by serial cryo‐crystallography

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section D, Volume 82, Issue 6, Page 672-682, June 2026.
Serial cryo‐crystallography reveals the structure of the extended‐spectrum β‐lactamase CTX‐M‐14 in complex with the third‐generation cephalosporin antibiotic cefdinir. One of the most common resistance mechanisms against antibiotics employed by Gram‐negative bacteria involves the production of β‐lactamases, resulting in rapid hydrolysis of the ...

Missed Opportunities in Donation After Circulatory Death Liver Transplantation: A National Analysis of Non‐Allocation and Non‐Procurement

open access: yesClinical Transplantation, Volume 40, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction A significant percentage of livers from DCD donors do not undergo allocation or procurement. We identified non‐allocated and non‐procured livers to understand reasons for non‐utilization and to quantify allografts potentially suitable for transplantation.

Sleep Reactivity Amplifies the Impact of Pre‐Sleep Cognitive Arousal on Sleep Disturbances

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 35, Issue 3, June 2026.
This study investigates how sleep reactivity moderates the ‘stress‐pre‐sleep arousal‐sleep’ pathway in university students. At the within‐individual level, both high and low sleep‐reactive groups showed increased pre‐sleep cognitive arousal and sleep disruptions in response to elevated daily stress.
