Salicylic acid increased aldose reductase activity and sorbitol accumulation in tomato plants under salt stress

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2010
Increased aldose reductase (ALR) activities were detected in the leaf tissues of tomato plants grown for 3 weeks in culture medium containing 10-7 or 10-4 M salicylic acid (SA), and in the roots after the 10-4 M SA pretreatment.

Effect of Salinity Stress on Phenylpropanoid Genes Expression and Related Gene Expression in Wheat Sprout

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
The effect of salinity (NaCl treatment) on the nutritive value of wheat sprouts was investigated by analyzing the expression of phenylpropanoid biosynthetic pathway genes and the levels of phenylpropanoid compounds.

NaCl-induced alteration of the RPE cell viability.

open access: yes, 2016
Data were obtained after 2 and 6 h of stimulation with high NaCl and are expressed as percent of unstimulated control (100%). A. Dose-dependency of the RPE cell viability. The doses of NaCl (in mM) added to the culture medium are given in the bars.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Pretreatment with NaCl induces tolerance of rice seedlings to subsequent Cd or Cd + NaCl stress

open access: yes, 2013
Rice (Oryza sativa L.) seedlings were grown hydroponically in Hoagland's nutrient solution under controlled conditions to investigate the effects of NaCl pretreatment on their response to subsequent application of cadmium (Cd) alone and Cd + NaCl ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Exogenous melatonin improves salt tolerance in tomato by regulating photosynthetic electron flux and the ascorbate–glutathione cycle

open access: yesJournal of Plant Interactions, 2019
Melatonin (MT) can protect plants against abiotic stress. In order to explore whether melatonin can improve photosynthetic function under NaCl stress, Solanum lycopersicum L. cv.

NaCl-Regulated gene expression in Distichlis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
NaCl-induced and -repressed cDNA clones had previously been isolated by differential screening of a cDNA library, prepared from poly(A(^+)) RNA isolated from Distichlis spicata (salt grass) cell cultures grown in the presence of 260 mM NaCl (Zhao, et al.,
