Background: Fasciola hepatica as an important parasite affects health of humans and animals in some tropical and subtropical areas of the world, including Iran. Little is known about the molecular diversity of Fasciola in Equidae.

Synergistic Activity between Two Antifungal Proteins, the Plant Defensin NaD1 and the Bovine Pancreatic Trypsin Inhibitor [PDF]
Defensins are a large family of small, cationic, cysteine-rich proteins that are part of the defense arsenal that plants use for protection against potentially damaging fungal infections.

The Plant Defensin, NaD1, Enters the Cytoplasm of Fusarium Oxysporum Hyphae [PDF]
The plant defensin, NaD1, from the flowers of Nicotiana alata displays potent antifungal activity against a variety of agronomically important filamentous fungi including Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasinfectum (Fov). To understand the mechanism of this antifungal activity, the effect of NaD1 on Fov fungal membranes and the location of NaD1 in treated ...

NaD1 forms oligomeric complexes with phosphatidylinositol to lyse cell membranes [PDF]
Cationic antimicrobial peptides (CAPs) are innate defense molecules produced by essentially all living species and represent a rich source of novel therapeutic molecules for the treatment of human diseases including cancer. Although several CAPs (mainly from amphibians and vertebrates) have been shown to exhibit direct toxicity against tumor cells, the

The pentatricopeptide repeat protein MTSF2 stabilizes a nad1 precursor transcript and defines the 3΄ end of its 5΄-half intron [PDF]
RNA expression in plant mitochondria implies a large number of post-transcriptional events in which transcript processing and stabilization are essential.

Crystallization and preliminary X-ray crystallographic analysis of the plant defensin NaD1 [PDF]
Plant defensins are small (~5 kDa) basic cysteine-rich proteins that are being explored in important agricultural crops for their ability to confer enhanced disease resistance against fungal pathogens. NaD1, isolated from the flowers of the ornamental tobacco (Nicotiana alata), is a particularly well characterized antifungal defensin.

In the Nicotiana sylvestris CMSII mutant, a recombination‐mediated change 5′ to the first exon of the mitochondrial nad1 gene is associated with lack of the NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase (complex I) NAD1 subunit [PDF]
We previously reported that the Nicotiana sylvestris CMSII mutant mitochondrial DNA carried a large deletion. Several expressed sequences, most of which are duplicated, and the unique copy of the nad7 gene encoding the NAD7 subunit of the NADH:ubiquinone oxidoreductase complex (complex I) are found in the deletion.

NAD1 controls defense-like responses in Medicago truncatula symbiotic nitrogen fixing nodules following rhizobial colonization in a BacA-independent manner [PDF]
Legumes form endosymbiotic interaction with host compatible rhizobia, resulting in the development of nitrogen-fixing root nodules. Within symbiotic nodules, rhizobia are intracellularly accommodated in plant-derived membrane compartments, termed ...

Cloning and Organelle Expression of Bamboo Mitochondrial Complex I Subunits Nad1, Nad2, Nad4, and Nad5 in the Yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]
Mitochondrial respiratory complex I catalyzes electron transfer from NADH to ubiquinone and pumps protons from the matrix into the intermembrane space. In particular, the complex I subunits Nad1, Nad2, Nad4, and Nad5, which are encoded by the nad1, nad2,
